Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Volt earns a 4.82/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2017 Chevrolet Volt reliable?

The owner feedback also emphasizes dependable everyday use, with many drivers describing the car as a trouble-free way to cover most trips on electric power. That kind of satisfaction matters if you plan to keep the car for years, because a used plug-in hybrid with strong owner confidence can be easier to live with over the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Volt?

At 70.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with past damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on the battery-related systems, charging equipment, and overall condition of the interior and exterior. Because the Volt’s appeal depends on efficient daily use, you should also pay close attention to how well the car has been maintained and whether its features and electronics work properly.

The current average of $11,672 sits slightly below last year's $12,299.

That tells you the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in strong condition, because a lower entry price can help protect your position later. Demand should remain supported by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and efficient plug-in hybrid appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Volt or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• It offers a clever electric-first setup that helps reduce range anxiety.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, pricing, and feature content, the 2017 is the better primary target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2016 can be worth a look, but you should compare condition, history, and equipment closely before deciding.
