How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Volt cost?

Prices have softened 4.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 196 listings available, which gives you a modest pool to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Volt a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, electric range, and the ability to drive mostly on electric power while still having gasoline backup. The overview also makes it a practical fit if you want modern tech, useful efficiency, and everyday flexibility in a compact plug-in hybrid. With 38.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Volt reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a dependable ownership experience centered on efficiency, electric range, and low-emissions driving. That kind of repeat praise usually suggests you can count on the car for daily use if it has been maintained well.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the concept and more about how well a specific example has been cared for over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Volt?

At 70.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the battery-related systems, charging behavior, and overall mechanical condition. You should also pay close attention to interior wear and rear-seat and cargo-area condition, since those are common practical tradeoffs on this model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Volt?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 196 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,781, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Volt's resale value?

The current average of $11,535 sits slightly below last year's $12,140.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car presents against other listings. A clean history and strong maintenance record matter more when the market is already pricing the model below its prior-year level.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Volt or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• It is appealing if you want the Volt’s electric-first driving feel with range-anxiety relief.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2017 if you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, current pricing, and market availability. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2016 can be worth a look for its core Volt strengths, but the 2017 is the better primary target when you want a more current used-car shopping pool.
