How much does the 2017 BMW 4 Series cost?

There are 868 listings available, which gives you a workable amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Generally — the 4.08/5 user rating points to a car that many owners feel good about overall. Drivers consistently praise its performance and handling, and many also like its power and quality. Stylish design and strong value for the money come up often as well, which fits a car that aims to deliver a premium feel without losing its sporty edge. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a used luxury car that balances driving enjoyment with everyday usability. With 35.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.08/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a car that many drivers find dependable in day-to-day use, with performance and quality standing out as recurring positives. At the same time, some owners mention minor issues and reliability concerns, so you should treat condition and maintenance history as important parts of the buying decision. For a used buyer, that means the biggest long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that has been poorly maintained or already showing early signs of wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW 4 Series?

At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service documentation. Focus your attention on overall condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car feels consistent with its premium positioning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW 4 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 868 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,889, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $16,081 sits slightly below last year's $16,886.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want a stylish, premium coupe or convertible with a sporty feel.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.08/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.08/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a good choice if you want the updated first-generation 4 Series with strong owner satisfaction and a market that has softened enough to create buying opportunities. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
