What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Audi Q7?

At 69.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a long option list. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, brake condition, and whether the electronics and driver-assistance features operate as expected. Because this is a luxury SUV with a lot of technology, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium trim includes luxury basics like a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 7-inch display, and standard safety features such as front and rear parking sensors, forward-collision warning with auto-brake, and a reversing camera. Premium Plus adds navigation, keyless entry and ignition, a power-adjustable steering wheel, auto-dimming side mirrors, interior accent lighting, and blind-spot monitoring. Prestige adds LED headlights, a surround-view camera, ventilated front seats, 4-zone climate control, rear sunshades, a larger 8.3-inch display, head-up display, and a 19-speaker Bose stereo.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 4-cylinder makes 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, returns 20 mpg city and 25 highway, and can tow 4,400 pounds. The supercharged V6 makes 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, is quicker, and can tow 7,700 pounds with the optional towing package.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, front and rear parking sensors, and Audi Pre-Sense. The Premium trim already includes forward-collision warning with auto-brake and a reversing camera, while blind-spot monitoring appears on Premium Plus.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses a 7-inch Audi MMI display, while Prestige gets a larger 8.3-inch high-resolution screen. The virtual cockpit is a major feature, and the system also supports Google Earth integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 4-cylinder is rated at 20 mpg city, 25 highway, and 22 combined. The V6 sacrifices only 1 mpg in city and combined driving relative to the four-cylinder.

Which 2017 Audi Q7 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Audi Q7 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, but it still feels well equipped with a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 7-inch infotainment display, and standard safety features like parking sensors and forward-collision warning with auto-brake. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Q7 and can live without navigation and blind-spot monitoring.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds navigation, keyless entry and ignition, a power-adjustable steering wheel, auto-dimming side mirrors, interior accent lighting, and blind-spot monitoring. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Prestige: This trim brings the most upscale experience with LED headlights, a surround-view camera, ventilated front seats, 4-zone climate control, rear sunshades, a larger 8.3-inch display, head-up display, and a 19-speaker Bose stereo. Choose it if you want the most luxury and tech, and you’re comfortable paying for it.

The safety package is strongest as you move up the range, with blind-spot monitoring added on Premium Plus and more advanced equipment available on Prestige.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi Q7?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,111 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,303, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Audi Q7's resale value?

The current average of $14,303 sits slightly below last year's $16,015.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Q7 more attractive to used buyers now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than neglected ones, especially in a luxury SUV segment where shoppers are selective.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Audi Q7 safe?

The 2017 Audi Q7 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, with top marks in all categories.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Q7 comes with a broad safety suite that includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, front and rear parking sensors, quattro AWD, and Audi Pre-Sense, which can tighten the seatbelts, prime the brake lines, and close the windows and sunroof in an imminent crash. One caveat is that the adaptive cruise and forward-collision system has previously been known to react too aggressively to some road discolorations or small bumps, so you should test those systems carefully on a used example.

Should I buy a 2017 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• After a year off, the Q7 returns with a new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, improved technology, more interior space, a full visual redesign, and 700 pounds less curb weight.

The bottom line: The 2017 Q7 is the better pick if you want the redesigned model with strong owner satisfaction, a lower current price, and a broad mix of luxury and safety features. If you’re shopping strictly for the newest tech refinements, a later year may be worth a look, but if value and the redesigned package matter more, the 2017 is the smarter starting point.
