What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Audi Q7?

At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident history or unusually low pricing. Focus on body condition, evidence of prior repairs, and whether the cabin electronics and driver-assistance features work as intended. Because this is a luxury SUV with a lot of technology, it’s smart to verify that everything from the infotainment screen to the safety systems behaves correctly on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Premium starts with a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, LED running and taillights, heated front seats, a 7-inch MMI display, parking sensors, forward-collision warning with auto-brake, and a reversing camera, while Premium Plus adds keyless entry and ignition, blind-spot monitoring, and navigation. Prestige adds the larger 8.3-inch display, head-up display, ventilated front seats, 4-zone climate control, surround-view camera, and more upscale lighting, so the base trim is the one with the biggest feature gaps.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 4-cylinder makes 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, while the supercharged V6 makes 333 hp and 325 lb-ft. The 4-cylinder is the efficiency play, and the V6 is the stronger choice if you want quicker acceleration and more towing capability.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, forward-collision warning with auto-brake, and a reversing camera, while blind-spot monitoring appears on Premium Plus and above. The available suite also includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, and Audi Pre-Sense.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses a 7-inch Audi MMI display, while Prestige gets a larger 8.3-inch high-resolution screen. The tech suite also includes the virtual cockpit and Google Earth integration, but the infotainment design is one of the areas some owners criticize.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 4-cylinder is rated at 20 mpg city, 25 highway, 22 combined, while the supercharged V6 sacrifices only 1 mpg in the city and combined.

Which 2017 Audi Q7 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Audi Q7 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the value-oriented choice because it already gives you luxury basics plus important safety gear, including parking sensors, forward-collision warning with auto-brake, and a reversing camera. It also brings the panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and the 7-inch MMI display, so you get a lot without moving up the price ladder.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds keyless entry and ignition, blind-spot monitoring, and navigation without jumping all the way to the top trim. If you want a more complete daily-driver setup, this is the sweet spot.
• Prestige: Choose this if you want the most upscale Q7 experience, since it adds the larger 8.3-inch display, head-up display, ventilated front seats, 4-zone climate control, surround-view camera, and more premium lighting. It’s the right pick if you care most about comfort and tech rather than value.

Safety content also notes that the Q7 includes a broad suite of standard and optional airbags, quattro AWD, and Audi Pre-Sense, with blind-spot monitoring and other advanced driver aids available as you move up the trim ladder.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi Q7?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,130 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,343, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Audi Q7's resale value?

The current average of $14,343 sits slightly below last year's $16,154.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially clean, well maintained, and well equipped. If you buy at a strong price now, you reduce the risk of overpaying into a softer market. A well-kept Q7 with desirable equipment should still attract interest, but condition and history will matter a lot when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Audi Q7 safe?

The 2017 Audi Q7 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, with top marks in all categories.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Q7’s safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, front and rear parking sensors, and Audi Pre-Sense, which can tighten the seatbelts, prime the brake lines, and close the windows and sunroof in an imminent crash. The available suite is broad, and the vehicle also benefits from quattro AWD and a strong braking performance. One caveat is that the adaptive cruise and forward-collision system has previously shown occasional false activations, so you should test those features carefully on a used example.

Should I buy a 2017 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• After a year off, the Q7 returns with a new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, improved technology, more interior space, and a full redesign, which makes this model year a major step forward.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Q7 with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used-car price, the 2017 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for a clean Premium or Premium Plus example, since those trims deliver the best mix of equipment and value without pushing you into the highest-priced versions.
