Is the 2017 Audi A6 a good car?

The 2017 Audi A6 is a mixed but appealing choice if you want a used luxury sedan with a premium feel and a balanced ownership profile. It earns a 3.86/5 user rating, and owners commonly praise its stunning looks, comfortable ride, and high-quality electronics. Is the 2017 Audi A6 reliable?

The 2017 Audi A6 stands out as a used luxury sedan that blends understated style with a premium feel. Owners also tend to praise its looks, comfortable ride, and high-quality electronics, which fit the car’s upscale character. At the same time, owner feedback points to high maintenance costs as a concern, and some drivers mention performance issues like engine leaks and handling feel. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about the purchase price and more about whether the car has been maintained consistently and repaired properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Audi A6?

At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on maintenance records, signs of leaks, and the condition of the electronics and ride quality. Because repair costs can be a concern on this model, prioritize cars with clear service documentation and a clean overall condition profile.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi A6?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and focused.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 577 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,372, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Audi A6's resale value?

The current average of $14,627 sits slightly below last year's $15,958.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service history rather than just the badge alone. If you keep the car well maintained and document repairs carefully, you’ll be in a better position to protect value when it’s time to sell.

Should I buy a 2017 Audi A6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.34% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2017 Audi A6 makes the most sense if you want a refined, tech-forward luxury sedan and you’re willing to be selective about condition and maintenance history. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2017 can be a smart target because values have softened and there are still deal-priced listings to find. If you want the broadest confidence in ownership, focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.
