Is the 2016 Volvo XC60 reliable?

The user feedback also points to reliable performance, along with comfort and a smooth ride, which supports the idea that this is a vehicle many owners feel confident living with over time. A few reviewers noted the electronic user interface could use improvement, so used buyers should pay attention to how the cabin tech functions during a test drive. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about owner sentiment and more about making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been well maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Volvo XC60?

At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you get too far into the process. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair, since accident history can affect long-term value and confidence. It also makes sense to spend extra time checking the interior electronics and controls, because the user feedback suggests the interface is an area worth evaluating carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Volvo XC60?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 527 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.76% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,993, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $10,994 sits slightly below last year's $12,182.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already moved down from its prior-year level, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you're thinking about future resale. For a seller, the current trend means pricing competitively will matter, especially if you want to stand out in a market with hundreds of listings. Strong condition and clean history should matter more than ever when you eventually go to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the XC60’s safety-first character, comfort, and premium feel at a lower average price than last year. If your priority is getting the best value, this model year makes sense when you find a clean, well-maintained example with a documented history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a slightly newer or older XC60 offers a better mix of condition, mileage, and asking price.
