How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 4.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 260 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the 2016 G-Class backs that up with its military-rooted toughness, unmistakable luxury presence, and serious off-road ability. The overview also highlights its powerful V8 lineup and rare character, which makes it especially appealing if you want an SUV that feels distinctive rather than ordinary. With 33.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests that later G550 and AMG G63 models are more reliable than earlier versions, but they still require costly upkeep. For used buyers, that means the bigger long-term risk is not just whether the truck runs well today, but whether you are prepared for expensive maintenance and repairs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 64.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with prior damage or repeated claims. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to body condition, signs of off-road use, and evidence of deferred maintenance. Because this model is expensive to buy and expensive to keep, condition matters as much as mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 260 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,217, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $63,538 sits slightly below last year's $66,758.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, the softer trend means resale gains may be harder to count on in the short term, so buying well matters. The G-Class still has strong appeal because of its rarity and distinctive image, which can help support demand when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the G-Class experience with strong owner satisfaction and a market that is a bit softer than last year, the 2016 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.
