The car fit for King James returns for 2016 looking to bring more of the nobility into its realm. After an impressive first year in the U.S. that saw the Kia K900 win the praise (and endorsement) of Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, the Korean behemoth comes back to the U.S. with a new engine and a new price tag. If you had your eye on a K900 last year but didn't want to shell out almost $55k for the V8, you can now get a V6 trim for just below the $50k mark.
When it launched for the 2015 model year, many thought the K900 wouldn't be able to compete with the German luxury establishment. But while Germany has indeed remained firmly in charge of the luxury market, the K900 made some inroads—most notably with the endorsement of James, who bought a K900 and loved it so much he offered to do commercials for Kia.
Under the hood, the 2016 K900 offers two engine choices—the new 3.8-liter 311-hp 6-cylinder or the returning 5.0-liter 420-hp 8-cylinder. Both engines send power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Opt for the 6-cylinder and you'll see fuel economy numbers of 18 mpg city/27 highway/21 combined, while the 8-cylinder will return 15/23/18.
The K900 is offered in three trims, starting with the V6 Premium. When Kia calls this car "Premium," it means exactly what it says. On the inside, the first thing you're likely to notice is the gigantic 9.2-inch touchscreen display, which allows you to access the voice-activated navigation system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 14-speaker sound system. Other interior features include park assist, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, power rear window and door sunshades, leather seats, a 12-way power driver's seat, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. Outside, you'll get a power sunroof, hydrophobic front windows, rain-sensing wipers, dual exhaust, power-folding mirrors, and heated rear glass. And while the K900 makes its name on being luxurious, Kia didn't skimp on safety, either. Standard safety features include a backup camera, dual front airbags, front and rear side-mounted airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, a brake assist system, and hill start assist.
Jumping up to the midrange V6 Luxury, the most notable additions are Nappa leather seats, a 900-watt 17-speaker Lexicon Discrete Logic7 audio system, paddle shifters, and wood trim. The optional V6 Luxury VIP Package can also be selected, which adds a 16-way power driver's seat, power-reclining rear seats, a heads-up display, autonomous emergency braking, and a 360-degree-view monitor.
If you really want the royal treatment, take a gander at the V8 Luxury. For the princely sum of $61,900, you get an upgraded 12.3-inch touchscreen display, a 360-degree-view monitor, a blind-spot detection system, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. Another $6,000 will also get you the V8 Luxury VIP Package, which includes quilted Nappa leather seats, autonomous emergency braking, power-reclining rear seats, a heads-up display, and a 16-way power driver's seat.
For what it offers, the K900 is one of the most competitively priced cars on the market today. Starting at more than $21,000 less than the BMW 7 Series (one of its biggest competitors), the K900 sports an impressive package any luxury buyer who likes a bargain should consider. Like every Kia, it comes with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, something luxury buyers should take to heart, given the usually high cost of repairs for their cars. If you're a luxury buyer looking for a stately, nay, royal sedan capable of seating 5 in exquisite comfort, don't overlook the K900 as you seek out the next addition to your stable.

(3 reviews)Really like this car...almost enough to justify the miserable V8 fuel mileage of 23 mpg. hwy. Nicely finished and good-looking, my executive is packed with features we use all the time. Problem is, I came out of a V8 powered Cadillac that got 26-27 hwy mpg....
Its the most car you can buy for your money
Love it rides good very comfortable price wasnt to bad
