Is the 2016 GMC Acadia a good car?

Generally — the 2016 GMC Acadia earns a 4.3/5 user rating, and its overview points to a practical, comfort-first full-size crossover with available upscale touches. It was aimed at families, with a roomy layout and straightforward mechanicals that make it appealing if you want space and a more premium feel than its basic shape might suggest. The tradeoff is that it was built to prioritize affordability and comfort over performance and capability, so it fits best if you value utility and ease of use over driving excitement. The market reflects that balanced appeal, with 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2016 GMC Acadia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview also points to the 2016 model as one of the better Acadia years for reliability, which strengthens its case as a used buy. For you, that means the bigger ownership risk is less about the model’s basic reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or mileage.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 GMC Acadia?

At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden bodywork, suspension, or mechanical issues. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of wear that matter most on an older family crossover, especially if you plan to keep it for several years.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 GMC Acadia?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,704 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,359, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $10,479 sits slightly below last year's $11,451.

That softer pricing suggests the Acadia has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you shop carefully now, you may have less downside left than you would with a vehicle that is still dropping quickly. Condition will matter a lot at resale, so a clean history and strong maintenance record can make a meaningful difference when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,913, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $10,479 average.
• It brings a smaller, lighter redesign with a brand-new 4-cylinder engine.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2016 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with a solid satisfaction signal. If you are willing to spend more for a newer redesign and a more modern driving feel, the 2017 is the better alternative; if price matters most, stay with the 2016 and shop for a clean, well-kept example.
