The Ford Edge I bought was the titanium trim, so its absolutely loaded with features. The biggest surprises for me was that the rear seats are heated as well, and that the leather seats are some of the comfiest non- luxury brand seats Ive sat on. The V6 also offers enough power, abs the transmission is smooth through the gears. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and the ride of this vehicle.

If you find a listing below $11,317.36, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2016 Ford Edge a good car?
Generally — the 4.45/5 user rating and 8.5/10 expert rating point to a model that lands well with shoppers. The expert score is backed by strong marks for look and feel, form and function, cost effectiveness, and technology.
The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.
Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, smooth handling, and the technology and features packed into this SUV. The overview also frames it as a family-friendly crossover with a practical size and a strong blend of comfort and performance.
The market shows 29.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance to find a competitive price if you shop carefully.
Is the 2016 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a comfortable, smooth-driving SUV that many drivers feel good about living with over time. It also highlights the technology and features as strengths, while noting only minor electronic glitches for some owners.
The expert drive notes that Ford did a good job isolating noise, vibration, and harshness, which supports the sense that the vehicle is well sorted for everyday use. That said, used buyers should still watch for wear, electronics quirks, and signs that the vehicle has been driven hard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Edge?
At 66.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Pay close attention to body condition, braking feel, electronics behavior, and any signs of prior repair work.
Because this model year mixes family use with available performance-oriented hardware, condition matters more than mileage alone. A clean, well-maintained example is the one most likely to reward you later.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE is described as having front-wheel drive and few options, while the SEL and Titanium add more equipment and are available with a 3.5-liter V6. The Sport sits at the top of the lineup with standard all-wheel drive, adaptive steering, and 21-inch wheels, but it also brings a darker cabin and a more performance-focused setup.
- Powertrain: The Sport uses a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, and it reaches 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds. The standard 6-speed automatic includes a Sport mode and paddle shifters, and the AWD system is standard on the Sport.
- Safety package: The Edge includes 911 Assist and MyKey, and available driver-assistance tech includes forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. It does not include automatic emergency braking, and the lane-keeping assist can feel unnatural.
- Infotainment: Sync 3 brings a capacitive touch display with swipe and pinch-to-zoom functions, plus Siri Eyes Free, smartphone projection for Apple and Android devices, and Wi-Fi software updates. Dual USB ports, an SD card slot, and an auxiliary input are also included.
- Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 19.7 mpg over a week, and the official combined estimate is 20 mpg.
Which 2016 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2016 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE is the value entry point, but it comes with front-wheel drive and few options, so you give up some of the richer equipment and performance hardware found higher up.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best middle-ground choice if you want more equipment than the base model without jumping all the way to the performance-focused Sport.
- Premium/top trim: The Titanium is the upscale pick if you want a more fully equipped Edge with a stronger emphasis on comfort and features.
- Off-road trim: The Sport is the one to skip if you want a calm daily driver, since its performance tires, larger wheels, and firmer tuning make ownership more specialized.
The safety package includes 911 Assist and MyKey, but the available driver-assistance tech still stops short of automatic emergency braking.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Edge?
The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.
- Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,679 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.28% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 66.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,317.36, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $11,317 sits slightly below last year's $12,075.
That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy well. If you choose a clean example with strong equipment and good maintenance records, you may be better positioned than someone who overpays today.
The market also appears active enough that well-priced examples can still attract attention, especially when they are accident-free and in good condition. For a future seller, that means presentation and history will matter a lot when it is time to list.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Ford Edge safe?
It earns an Acceptable rating from IIHS and five-star ratings in all NHTSA tests, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The Edge includes 911 Assist and MyKey, and available driver-assistance features include forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. It also uses Brake Support, which prepares the brakes after a warning, but it does not have automatic emergency braking.
The main caution is the IIHS small overlap frontal result, which is weaker than you’d want from a newer design. The expert review also flags the braking system as a major concern, so you should pay close attention to brake feel and stopping performance on any used example you test-drive.
Should I buy a 2016 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 66.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.28% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Ford’s Sync 3 upgrade and standard AWD on the Sport make this year feel more modern and more polished.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $12,587, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $11,317 average.
- It adds a more family-friendly layout with ample cargo room and storage cubbies.
The bottom line: If you want the lower price and a strong mix of comfort, tech, and performance, the 2016 is the better value play. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year update and a slightly more practical family setup, the 2017 is worth a look.
