Used 2016 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale nearBirmingham, AL

How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 11.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,448 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and conditions.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for a vehicle that emphasizes space, family usefulness, and everyday convenience. The Traverse stands out as a very large three-row crossover with a huge cabin, a third row with just over 33 inches of legroom, and up to 116.4 cubic feet of cargo space, so it fits well if you need maximum room for passengers and gear. It also brings real utility with a 3.6-liter V6, a six-speed automatic, and towing capacity of up to 5,200 pounds. 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The Traverse’s reliability record is a weak point, with a reputation for electrical, power steering, engine, and transmission trouble, so you should treat condition and maintenance history as especially important. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk is higher than average if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put a pre-purchase inspection at the top of your list, with extra attention to electrical systems, steering behavior, engine operation, and transmission smoothness. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because those details matter more than usual on this model year.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,448 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,702, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $8,702 sits slightly below last year's $9,876.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and documentation rather than broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should hold up better than neglected ones because buyers will be cautious about this model’s reliability reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Traverse makes the most sense if you want a roomy, family-friendly three-row SUV and you find a well-documented example at a competitive price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year could be worth comparing, but the 2016 remains a sensible target when condition, history, and maintenance records line up.
