BMW currently offers a hotted-up performance variant of the 3 Series called the M340i, but a few years ago, the automaker sold a “normal” high-end model missing the “M” tag. The 340i debuted in 2016 as a range-topping model to replace the outgoing 335i. It got a new, more powerful inline-six, a ton of available handling and performance options, and an available six-speed manual transmission. With certain options boxes ticked, the 340i could deliver a driving experience that reached near-M3 levels of excitement.
