How much does the 2015 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 5.82% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

With 719 listings available, you have a modest pool of used Prius options to compare.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Toyota Prius earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, comfort, smooth ride, and Toyota's reliability. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Prius’s everyday-use focus: it is built to make commuting, errands, and routine driving easier rather than more exciting.

You also get a car that is framed as a practical, efficient choice with strong utility, which helps explain why it appeals to buyers who want low running costs and easy day-to-day livability. 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe the Prius as reliable, and the expert review reinforces that with language about impressive reliability and dependability ratings. Toyota’s free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles adds another ownership perk that can help reduce early running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

At 53.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on condition details that matter in a used hybrid: interior wear, electronics, and signs that the car has been used hard in city driving.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Prius is sold in Two, Three, Four, and Five trims, and higher trims add more technology and convenience. The base trim is the most stripped-down, while upper trims bring features like navigation, expanded Smart Key functionality, and more premium equipment.
• Powertrain: It uses a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engine with an electric drive motor for a total of 134 hp. It can run on electricity alone at low speeds for short distances, and the CVT helps keep the hybrid system smooth and efficient.
• Safety package: Toyota’s Safety Connect is limited to the Four and Five trims. The Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking, but blind-spot warning is not offered.
• Infotainment: Prius Three and Persona Series models get navigation, Entune App Suite, and expanded Smart Key functionality. Higher trims can add a heads-up display, premium audio, upgraded navigation, and advanced voice-recognition technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites 51 mpg city/48 highway/50 combined, and the test vehicle averaged 41.3 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2015 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota Prius is offered in 4 trim levels: Two, Three, Four, and Five.

Here's the short version:

• Two: This is the simplest way into the Prius lineup, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path to the Prius’s core fuel-saving appeal and do not need extra tech.
• Three: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation, Entune App Suite, and expanded Smart Key functionality without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• Four: Choose this if you want a more upscale experience, since it can be optioned with the Deluxe Solar Roof Package, heads-up display, premium audio, upgraded navigation, and Toyota’s Safety Connect service.
• Five: This is the most feature-rich trim, with exclusive LED headlights standard and the option for the Advanced Technology Package, making it the right pick if you want the most equipment and are willing to pay for it.

Toyota restricts Safety Connect to the Four and Five trims, so if that service matters to you, avoid the lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 719 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.82% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 53.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,399, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $12,604 sits slightly above last year's $11,911.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay a bit more for this model year, which can help support resale value if you buy well and keep the car in good condition. The Prius’s strong fuel-economy reputation and broad everyday usefulness also help keep it relevant with used buyers.

If you plan to sell later, the biggest advantage is that the Prius remains a recognizable, practical hybrid with steady demand from efficiency-minded shoppers. That said, resale can still be sensitive to condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2015 Prius earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick commendation from IIHS.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect system includes automatic collision notification and emergency assistance, but it is limited to the Four and Five trims. The Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking.

A notable shortcoming is that blind-spot warning is not offered at any price, so you should not expect a full modern driver-assistance suite.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.82% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 combines strong fuel economy with a practical, comfort-focused hybrid setup.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,260, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,604 average.
• It enters a new generation with many familiar strengths and a few new tricks.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the easier buy because it costs less and still delivers the Prius formula that shoppers want. If you are willing to pay more for a newer-generation model, the 2016 is the better path for buyers who want the next step up in freshness.
