CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Subaru WRX

Summary
With 49 currently listed for sale and an average price of $10,500, 22.4% of 2015 Subaru WRX listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Subaru WRX 5 / 5 stars.
73.5% of 2015 Subaru WRX listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Subaru WRX stands out as a redesigned, rally-bred sport compact that kept standard all-wheel drive while moving to a new platform with more interior space, better fuel efficiency, and a stiffer chassis. It also dropped the Impreza name and became simply the WRX, which helped separate it more clearly from the mainstream car it was based on. Under the hood, it came standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine rated at 268 hp and 258 lb-ft, paired with a six-speed manual or an available CVT, and Subaru’s AWD torque vectoring was part of the package to improve handling.
For buyers, the 2015 WRX offered a strong mix of performance and everyday usability. The trim lineup included Base, WRX Premium, and WRX Limited, with features such as cloth upholstery on the lower trims, a leather interior on the Limited, and cruise control across the range. It also brought useful tech updates for the model year, including an upgraded touchscreen that could integrate with a smartphone. At the same time, the car’s drawbacks were familiar to enthusiasts: advanced tech such as adaptive cruise control was not available, and the WRX was still known for poor fuel economy.

This car is pretty awesome!! Of course its not the sti! But love the features, power, and comfortable. I bought the automatic so there is a 2 second lag when you punch it! But you have a manual option with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel that accommodates that! Other than that this car is very fast has I mode, for when your doing your every day driving, S mode is when you need a little bit more power to over pass a car in the freeway, and # S mode is when your ready to race or need that extra power switches from 6grs to 8grs. If your looking for more power and more tuning options get the Sti. Over all im happy with the wrx . Nothing really compares to it as far as power and torque! And what modifications you can do it!

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter to enthusiasts: strong performance, solid value, and confidence in a variety of conditions. That kind of praise suggests the WRX can be a car you count on if it has been maintained properly.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about how hard it may have been driven and maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru WRX?
At 54.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report on every candidate and prioritize cars with clean records and consistent maintenance. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important here, since condition can vary a lot from one WRX to another. Focus on signs of wear, accident repair quality, and whether the car has been modified or driven hard.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Subaru WRX?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings.
- Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 342 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.74% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 54.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,240, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Subaru WRX's resale value?
The current average of $13,242 sits slightly below last year's $13,615.
That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on condition and mileage. If you keep the car clean, documented, and unmodified, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell. A well-kept WRX can stand out in a market where many examples have mixed histories.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 54.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.74% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,264, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $13,242 average.
- It adds a stronger performance-focused feel with a more confident, refined driving character.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because pricing is softer and owner satisfaction is excellent. If you can spend more for a newer alternative, the 2016 is the secondary path to consider.
