CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Subaru WRX

Summary
With 346 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,499, 26.9% of 2015 Subaru WRXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Subaru WRX 5 / 5 stars.
53.8% of 2015 WRX models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Subaru WRX stands out as a redesigned, rally-inspired sport compact that kept standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive while moving to a new platform with more interior space, better fuel efficiency, and a stiffer chassis. It also shed the Impreza name and became simply the WRX, which helped give the car a more distinct identity. Under the hood, it used a 2.0-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine rated at 268 hp and 258 lb-ft, paired with a six-speed manual or an available CVT, so it remained focused on performance while broadening its appeal to buyers who wanted an automatic.
This model year also brought a more mature cabin than earlier WRX versions. The 2015 Subaru WRX was offered in Base, WRX Premium, and WRX Limited trims, with cloth upholstery in the lower trims and a leather interior in the Limited. All models included cruise control, but advanced tech such as adaptive cruise control was not available. Owners commonly praise the car’s performance, power, value, and handling, though some note a slight lag in the automatic transmission. That mix of strong driving character, everyday usability, and a few clear compromises is a big part of what makes the 2015 WRX distinctive.

This car is pretty awesome!! Of course its not the sti! But love the features, power, and comfortable. I bought the automatic so there is a 2 second lag when you punch it! But you have a manual option with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel that accommodates that! Other than that this car is very fast has I mode, for when your doing your every day driving, S mode is when you need a little bit more power to over pass a car in the freeway, and # S mode is when your ready to race or need that extra power switches from 6grs to 8grs. If your looking for more power and more tuning options get the Sti. Over all im happy with the wrx . Nothing really compares to it as far as power and torque! And what modifications you can do it!

How much does the 2015 Subaru WRX cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,503 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,248 |
| Year-Round High | $14,082 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $13,919 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.99% |
Prices have softened 2.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 347 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2015 Subaru WRX a good car?
Yes — owners give it 5/5, and the feedback points to strong performance, power, and value. Many shoppers also like how it handles in various conditions and appreciate the features it offers. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a rally-inspired sport compact that still works as an everyday car. With 26.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Subaru WRX reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback emphasizes dependable performance, strong value, and a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time. That kind of satisfaction usually matters most when you plan to keep a used car for the long haul. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and driven without hidden issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru WRX?
At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage or modified example. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and how the car drives, since those details matter more when the market includes a mix of clean and incident-history listings.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Subaru WRX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 347 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.99% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,248, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Subaru WRX's resale value?
The current average of $13,503 sits slightly below last year's $13,919.
That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you are thinking about future value, the current pricing trend suggests you should be selective about condition and mileage so your car stays competitive later. A well-kept example is more likely to hold buyer interest than one with a rough history or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.99% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,462, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $13,503 average.
- It adds a more comfortable commuter feel with a serious wild side.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2015 is the stronger starting point because pricing has softened and owner satisfaction is excellent. If you are willing to pay more for the next year’s broader everyday appeal, the 2016 is worth a look; otherwise, the 2015 is the smarter pick for price-sensitive buyers who still want the WRX formula.
