Why it stands out
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class stands out as a full-size luxury sedan that blends advanced technology with a deeply polished sense of craftsmanship. In the W222 generation, Mercedes gave the car a new aluminum hybrid body shell that cut weight and improved rigidity, and the redesign also brought a first-in-the-world LED lighting setup with 500 light units throughout the interior and exterior. It was also one of the most tech-forward luxury cars of its time, with Mercedes’ MBUX digital interface and infotainment system on two giant 12.3-inch screens under a single panel, plus selectable ambient lighting and a cabin finished with wood and metal accents.
For 2015 specifically, the S-Class broadened its appeal with more powertrain choices. That year brought the S 550e plug-in hybrid, the revived 6.0-liter V12 S 600, and the AMG S 65. The plug-in hybrid made 329 system horsepower and offered 14 miles of electric range, while the S 600 made 523 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque and the S 65 delivered 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet. The generation also offered features such as adaptive suspension technology, a surround-view camera system, rear executive seating packages, massaging seats, and Burmester surround-sound audio, helping the car feel exceptionally well equipped even by luxury standards.
What makes the 2015 S-Class especially appealing is how complete it feels: it is quiet, lavish, and loaded with technology, yet it also has serious performance and a reputation for strong reliability relative to earlier S-Class generations. The tradeoff is cost, since this is still an expensive car to buy and maintain, and some buyers may wish for cooled seats. Even so, for shoppers who want a flagship sedan that emphasizes comfort, innovation, and prestige, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class remains a compelling choice.

This model is particularly a great S-Class version. It is so much better than the successor model S. The features are pretty much the same but having the tactile models and not a giant Ipad in the middle made the car so much more user friendly. I hope the next version reverts back to tactile buttons and not all of these haptics that just do not work. It is a card with an excellent ride and the sound system is top notch. I have never really had a smooth quieter ride than the S Class Mercedes.

The Mercedes-Benz S Class is my favorite vehicle. This particular vehicle attracted me with the very low mileage and one owner which is a rare combination (low mileage, one owner, low price). The only thing this car is missing is me in the driver seat.

Is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction.
Owners consistently praise the luxurious features, smooth ride, and powerful performance. They also highlight the high-quality interior and advanced technology, and many compare it favorably with ultra-luxury brands. In practical terms, that lines up well if you want a full-size luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, innovation, and prestige.
With 30.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive price.
Is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a dependable ownership experience centered on luxury, comfort, workmanship, and performance. The recurring praise for the car’s smooth ride and polished feel suggests that many buyers have found it easy to live with over time.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s appeal and more about making sure maintenance history and condition support the premium ownership experience you expect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?
At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on bodywork quality, electronics, suspension behavior, and signs of deferred maintenance. Because this is a high-end luxury sedan, condition matters a lot more than mileage alone.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 877 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.04% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,402, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?
The current average of $24,424 sits slightly below last year's $26,853.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, the current softness may limit short-term appreciation, but it can also make the car easier to justify to future buyers if you purchase well. Strong condition and a clean history will matter a lot when it comes time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.04% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2015 if you want a flagship luxury sedan with strong owner approval and a softer used-car price than it had a year ago. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a different year may be worth comparing, but the 2015 stands out as a compelling choice when you want luxury, technology, and value to line up.
