What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Soul?

At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, repairs, and any signs of past collision damage. Focus on overall condition rather than just mileage, since the market includes a sizable number of cars with accident history. It also helps to confirm that the features you want are actually present, because equipment can vary a lot by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The loaded test vehicle shows how much equipment the Soul can add, including leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, LED interior lighting, HID headlights, LED running lights, Smart Key entry, push-button start, a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, and ventilated front seats. The base car is much simpler, so feature gaps can be significant.
• Powertrain: The test vehicle uses a 164-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The commentary says it feels lively around town, but more power would still be welcome.
• Safety package: The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, plus Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features. A reversing camera is available, but blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert is not offered.
• Infotainment: The Soul can be equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, Kia UVO eServices, Siri Eyes Free, Google Local Search, Bluetooth audio, Pandora Internet radio, USB, and flash-drive playback. The system also supports remote destination sending through My POI.
• Fuel efficiency: The test-drive data cites 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, with a combined result of 24.6 mpg in testing.

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,114 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,622, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $7,790 sits slightly below last year's $7,816.

That small decline suggests the Soul has been holding value fairly steadily rather than swinging sharply. For a future seller, that kind of price stability is helpful because it points to a market that is still familiar with the model and willing to shop it seriously.

The Soul’s strong value reputation and broad appeal should continue to support demand, especially if your vehicle is clean, well maintained, and equipped with desirable features. Cars with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Kia Soul safe?

The 2015 Kia Soul earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, which can automatically alert emergency responders after a collision if a paired smartphone is present. It also offers Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features, which are especially useful for families with teen drivers.

A key caveat is that the Soul lacks modern active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, aside from the reversing camera. That omission is worth keeping in mind if safety tech is a priority for you.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its value-rich mix of personality, tech, and safety ratings.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $6,803, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $7,790 average.
• It is a fuel-efficient daily-driver hatch with strong behind-the-wheel appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better target because it combines stable pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and a well-rounded feature set. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can still make sense as a lower-cost alternative, especially if you find one in good condition.

How does the 2015 Kia Soul compare to the 2015 Honda Fit?

Our experts score the 2015 Kia Soul 8/10 and the 2015 Honda Fit 8.5/10.

The Soul gives you more personality, a lower average used price, and a much larger pool of listings to shop from. The Fit counters with better fuel economy and a slightly stronger expert score, so it makes more sense if efficiency is your top priority. If you want value, style, and easier shopping, the Soul is compelling; if you want the more efficient choice, the Fit has the edge.
