How much does the 2015 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 10.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 914 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Kia Sorento earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and reliable performance. That lines up well with the Sorento’s appeal as a well-equipped crossover that gives you a polished look and a lot of features for the money. It also fits buyers who want a family-friendly SUV without moving into a more expensive segment.

With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliable performance, and the broader ownership picture also emphasizes the Sorento’s dependable feel. The expert evaluation adds that it delivers a calm commute and sure-footed control in slippery conditions, which supports the sense that it’s built to be easy to live with. Kia’s warranty and roadside-assistance coverage also help ownership confidence.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may not match the advertised equipment list, so you should verify features carefully before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Sorento?

At 62.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It’s also smart to confirm that the equipment on the window sticker or listing is actually present, since some owners have reported missing advertised features. Focus on overall condition, because the Sorento’s value proposition depends heavily on getting the right combination of equipment and clean history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the starting point, while the EX adds a V6, 18-inch wheels, LED running lights, fog lights, roof rails, rear parking-assist sensors, leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear side-window sunshades, UVO eServices, keyless engine start, a reversing camera, and blind-spot detection. The SX adds 19-inch wheels, power folding side mirrors, a power tailgate, LED taillights, upgraded trim, navigation, premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, rear air conditioning, and a 115-volt outlet. The SX Limited adds chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
• Powertrain: A 4-cylinder engine comes standard on the LX, while a V6 is optional there and standard on the other trims. The 290-hp, 3.3-liter V6 is paired with a 6-speed automatic, and Active Eco mode is designed to help preserve fuel.
• Safety package: The reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors are standard on EX models, while blind-spot detection is included on SX and Limited trims. The UVO eServices system also includes 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist.
• Infotainment: UVO is responsive and intuitive, and it supports voice commands, smartphone syncing, eServices information, Parking Minder, navigation transfer from your phone, and geo-fencing features. The content does not specify a screen size or wireless smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation notes a disappointing 18.1 mpg average in combined driving, with EPA estimates of about 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

Which 2015 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2015 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX and SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it’s nicely equipped for the money. It makes sense if you want the Sorento’s basic shape and value without paying for the higher-trim extras.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the V6, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a reversing camera, rear parking-assist sensors, and blind-spot detection.
• SX: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel, with the panoramic sunroof, navigation, premium audio, ventilated front seats, power tailgate, and 19-inch wheels.
• SX Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, chrome wheels, and Xenon headlights.

Blind-spot detection is included on SX and Limited trims, while EX models get the reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 914 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,268, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $8,408 sits slightly below last year's $9,446.

That decline suggests the Sorento has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you shop carefully now, you may have less downside left than a buyer who paid closer to last year’s average. The current market also shows enough deal activity that you can be selective about condition and equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2015 Kia Sorento earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s safety tech is strongest on the higher trims. EX models get a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors, while SX and Limited trims add blind-spot detection. The UVO eServices system also includes 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist, which can automatically contact authorities after a crash if a paired smartphone is in the vehicle.

There is a caveat to keep in mind: the IIHS had rated the closely related prior model poorly in the small-overlap frontal-offset test, and this year’s SUV is described as essentially identical to that version.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers a polished look, strong equipment content, and a well-equipped crossover feel.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,864, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,408 average.
• It emphasizes style, performance, safety, and substance, with better real-world fuel economy.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,875, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,408 average.
• It brings an all-new design, a more upscale interior, and a turbocharged engine option.

The bottom line: The 2015 makes sense if you want a well-equipped Sorento at a softer price than last year and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2014 is the cheaper route; if you want a more modern-feeling Sorento, the 2016 is the stronger upgrade path.
