Is the 2015 Jeep Renegade a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Jeep Renegade earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to a solid overall reception.

The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Owners most often praise its comfort, handling, spacious interior, and nice features. The overview also frames it as a compact crossover with Jeep character and a more adventurous personality than many rivals, which helps if you want something distinctive rather than purely practical.

With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is enough market activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

Is the 2015 Jeep Renegade reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find comfortable and easy to live with, and the expert commentary notes that Jeeps are generally middle of the pack for initial quality and dependability depending on model. The performance writeup also describes both available engines as surprisingly competent in their respective roles, which supports the idea that the Renegade can be a dependable daily driver when maintained properly.

If you buy used, your biggest long-term ownership risk is likely to come from condition and maintenance history rather than from the model’s basic appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jeep Renegade?

At 58% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you are looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport starts with a very basic setup, while Latitude adds more interior comfort and Limited brings more upscale equipment. The base setup can be stripped down enough to include hand-cranking windows, no air conditioning, a radio only, and steel wheels.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 6-speed manual and a 2.4-liter four with a 9-speed automatic. The smaller engine is more efficient, while the larger one is better suited to light off-roading and towing.
• Safety package: All Renegades have antilock brakes, traction control, and advanced multistage airbags. Latitude and higher versions can add lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection.
• Infotainment: Standard Sport models get a basic AM/FM radio with auxiliary ports. A 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, satellite radio, backup camera, and air conditioning is available, and Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk versions can add navigation and a 6.5-inch display.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.4-liter turbo returns 24 mpg city/31 highway/27 combined, while the 2.4-liter with 4WD returns 21/29/24. The broader performance writeup says both engines deliver mileage in the high 20s.

Which 2015 Jeep Renegade trim should I buy?

The 2015 Jeep Renegade is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Limited, Trailhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it can be extremely bare-bones. It makes sense only if you want the lowest possible price and are comfortable adding very little equipment.
• Latitude: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds more interior comfort and can be equipped with the more useful tech and safety upgrades.
• Limited: This trim is the most upscale of the regular lineup and is the one to target if you want the 7-inch gauge-cluster display and more premium features.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if you want the off-road-focused version, since it is the dedicated adventure trim and comes only with the 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission.

The safety package is available on Latitude and higher versions, so that is the trim threshold to keep in mind if driver-assistance features matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jeep Renegade?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 826 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,262, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Jeep Renegade's resale value?

The current average of $9,262 sits slightly below last year's $9,769.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range. The current spread also means future resale will likely depend heavily on mileage, condition, and equipment level.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Jeep Renegade safe?

The Jeep Renegade has not been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety nor the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

All Renegades have antilock brake and traction-control systems, as well as advanced multistage airbags for driver and passenger. A suite of optional safety systems including lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection are available on Latitude and higher versions.

One caveat is that the Renegade’s safety record lacks U.S. crash-test ratings in the source material, so you should lean more heavily on condition, equipment, and inspection results when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2015 Jeep Renegade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Jeep’s all-new small crossover brings off-road chops and a decent powertrain.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,837, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $9,262 average.
• It adds a more playful look and broader praise for everyday usability.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced entry point and are comfortable shopping carefully, the 2015 is the better value play. If you can spend more for a newer example with a more polished presentation, the 2016 is the cleaner alternative.
