2015 Jaguar XF test drive
overall

Jaguar's XF costs less and delivers more than its competition. It’s one of the smartest buys in its segment, with plenty of performance, roomy accommodations, excellent road manners, and exclusivity.
The Jaguar XF is a medium-size luxury sedan from this famous premium builder. It’s a stylish and luxurious choice that’s a departure from the usual BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes-Benz models that make up its most direct competition. Jaguar is known for its performance cars, and the XF delivers classic front-engine rear-drive behavior, even when equipped with all-wheel drive. Power can come from a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, or a 5.0-liter V8 that’s also supercharged. The availability of all-wheel drive keeps the XF on the shopping list of people living where winter strikes. The XF is an individualistic choice that has broad appeal.

Its an amazing car with a few issues if you will. The control panel buttons are melted. Melted you ask, the coating on the buttons are plastic of some sort and theres apparently a lot of heat coming out or around the panel and as a result, the buttons get stuck. This makes it difficult to say the least. Other than that, much love for the car.

Good car...great features, decent value, great looking. Its missing more controls, like raising the drivers seat, additional ways to control the panel. 4 out 5

Is the 2015 Jaguar XF a good car?
Generally — the 4/5 user rating and 8.17/10 expert rating point to a car that lands well with shoppers who want a stylish, luxurious midsize sedan with a more individualistic personality than the usual BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes-Benz alternatives. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.
The XF’s appeal comes from its classic front-engine, rear-drive character, even when all-wheel drive is fitted, plus a broad powertrain range that includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, and a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. It also brings roomy accommodations and strong road manners, and it’s positioned as a value play that delivers more than many rivals for the money.
With 25.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding one priced attractively.
Is the 2015 Jaguar XF reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The XF is described as a surprising value with a lot of standard equipment, and its performance-oriented hardware and premium positioning suggest a car that can feel rewarding over time if it’s been maintained properly. The 3.0-liter V6 is praised for its smooth idle and eager power delivery, while the AWD system operates seamlessly and the transmission is quick and smooth in normal use.
Jaguar also frames the XF as a well-equipped luxury sedan that can cost less than comparable rivals, which helps offset some ownership concerns. Still, as with any complex performance sedan, you should expect long-term ownership risk to rise if maintenance history is incomplete or deferred.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jaguar XF?
At 69.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or shows signs of uneven wear. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, and how the car drives over bumps, since the XF’s structure and suspension can reveal issues that aren’t obvious in photos. It’s also worth checking that the electronics and driver aids work as intended, because the system is described as slow and somewhat dated.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The XF’s styling is clean and distinctive inside and out, and XF Sport models use blacked-out trim instead of normal chrome. The cabin mixes wood veneers, stitched leather, aluminum trim, and a touchscreen interface, but the base setup is more about style and substance than modern tech sophistication.
- Powertrain: You can shop a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, or a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. The 3.0-liter V6 is energetic and smooth, while the AWD system is rear-biased and can send power forward when needed.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes airbags, seatbelts with pretensioners, Emergency Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, and dynamic stability control. The car was not rated for crash safety by U.S. agencies or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the Euro NCAP result cited is 4 stars overall.
- Infotainment: The XF includes navigation, voice control, parking aids, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive front lighting, but the system is slow to respond and less sophisticated than what many rivals offer.
- Fuel efficiency: The XF is said to return about 19 mpg in mixed driving, with EPA estimates of 17/27 mpg city/highway and 20 mpg combined.
Which 2015 Jaguar XF trim should I buy?
The 2015 Jaguar XF is offered in 2 trim levels: XF 2.0T Premium, XF 3.0 AWD Sport.
Here's the short version:
- XF 2.0T Premium: This is the entry point, and it gives you the XF’s distinctive styling, premium cabin materials, and core luxury-sedan character at the lowest starting price mentioned. It makes the most sense if you want the Jaguar look and feel without paying for the stronger powertrain.
- XF 3.0 AWD Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want the XF’s character at its most compelling. It adds the supercharged 3.0-liter V6, all-wheel drive, and the more performance-focused setup that the review specifically calls a surprising performer and a strong value at its price.
The safety content notes that the car was not rated by U.S. agencies or IIHS, so you should put extra weight on condition, maintenance history, and inspection results regardless of trim.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jaguar XF?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile examples.
- Deal availability: 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 85 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 69.4% of listings are accident-free.
Is the 2015 Jaguar XF safe?
The 2015 Jaguar XF has not been rated for crash safety by U.S. agencies or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the Euro NCAP result cited is four-star overall.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes airbags, seatbelts with pretensioners, a body structure using high-strength steel in key locations, Emergency Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, and dynamic stability control. The XF also includes active safety technology such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive front lighting, voice control, navigation, and parking aids.
The main caveat is the lack of U.S. crash-test results, which makes it harder to compare directly against rivals with stronger published safety records.
Should I buy a 2015 Jaguar XF or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 69.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The XF stands out as a stylish, luxurious midsize sedan with a broad powertrain range, rear-drive character, and all-wheel-drive availability that makes it especially appealing in colder climates.
The bottom line: The 2015 XF makes the most sense if you want a distinctive luxury sedan with strong personality, good value, and a wide range of powertrains. If you’re price-sensitive, the market still offers enough deal activity to make careful shopping worthwhile, but you should lean heavily on history reports and inspections before buying.
