2015 Jaguar XF test drive
overall

Jaguar's XF costs less and delivers more than its competition. It’s one of the smartest buys in its segment, with plenty of performance, roomy accommodations, excellent road manners, and exclusivity.
The Jaguar XF is a medium-size luxury sedan from this famous premium builder. It’s a stylish and luxurious choice that’s a departure from the usual BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes-Benz models that make up its most direct competition. Jaguar is known for its performance cars, and the XF delivers classic front-engine rear-drive behavior, even when equipped with all-wheel drive. Power can come from a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, or a 5.0-liter V8 that’s also supercharged. The availability of all-wheel drive keeps the XF on the shopping list of people living where winter strikes. The XF is an individualistic choice that has broad appeal.

Its an amazing car with a few issues if you will. The control panel buttons are melted. Melted you ask, the coating on the buttons are plastic of some sort and theres apparently a lot of heat coming out or around the panel and as a result, the buttons get stuck. This makes it difficult to say the least. Other than that, much love for the car.

Good car...great features, decent value, great looking. Its missing more controls, like raising the drivers seat, additional ways to control the panel. 4 out 5

Is the 2015 Jaguar XF a good car?
Generally — the 4/5 user rating and 8.17/10 expert rating point to a car that lands well for shoppers who want a stylish, luxurious midsize sedan with a more individualistic feel than the usual BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes-Benz alternatives. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.
The XF’s appeal comes through in its classic front-engine, rear-drive character, available all-wheel drive for winter weather, and broad powertrain range that includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, and a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. It’s also described as a smart buy in its segment, with strong performance, roomy accommodations, excellent road manners, and exclusivity.
25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Jaguar XF reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The XF is presented as a value-rich luxury sedan with standard equipment that other brands often charge extra for, and its performance-oriented hardware is described as delivering strong, confident road behavior.
The performance notes also point to a smooth, eager supercharged V6 and a transmission that is quick and smooth in normal use, though manual shifts are less responsive than you might want. The cost-effectiveness notes add that residual values are a few percentage points lower than some rivals, and that a complex, sophisticated performance sedan may bring a few surprises over time.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is the usual one for a high-feature luxury car: you should expect maintenance and repair costs to matter more than they would on a simpler sedan.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jaguar XF?
At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on condition consistency across the body, interior, and mechanical systems, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The XF’s styling is clean and distinctive inside and out, with blacked-out trim on XF Sport models and several alloy wheel designs available. The interior mixes wood veneers, stitched premium leather, aluminum trim, a touchscreen interface, and dramatic rotating vents, so base-trim cars may feel less special if they are missing the richer visual and material touches.
- Powertrain: You can shop a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, or a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. The V6 is described as eager and powerful, while the AWD system is rear-wheel-drive biased and can send power forward when needed.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes airbags, seatbelts with pretensioners, a high-strength steel body structure, Emergency Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, and dynamic stability control. The text also notes that the car lacks U.S. crash testing and that the Euro NCAP result trails the strongest competitors.
- Infotainment: The XF’s tech includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive front lighting, voice control, navigation, and parking aids. The system is described as slow to respond, and it relies on the LCD for functions like heating and air conditioning.
- Fuel efficiency: EPA estimates are 17/27 mpg, with a 20 mpg combined rating. Mixed driving returned about 19 mpg.
Which 2015 Jaguar XF trim should I buy?
The 2015 Jaguar XF is offered in 2 trim levels: XF 2.0T Premium, XF 3.0 AWD Sport.
Here's the short version:
- XF 2.0T Premium: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the XF’s styling, luxury feel, and value story at the lowest starting price. It should suit you if you care more about the car’s distinctive design and standard equipment than about maximum power.
- XF 3.0 AWD Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest all-around blend of performance and winter-friendly traction. The supercharged V6 is described as energetic and smooth, and the AWD system is rear-biased and seamless, which makes this the trim to target if you want the XF’s character at its most compelling.
The safety content notes that the car was not rated by U.S. agencies or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, so you should weigh that carefully when comparing trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jaguar XF?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 88 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 64.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,599.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Jaguar XF safe?
It’s difficult to get a definitive idea of how safe the XF will be in a collision, and the car has not yet been rated for crash safety by U.S. agencies or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. In Europe, the Euro NCAP rated the 2010 and 2011 XF with four-star overall results.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes airbags, seatbelts with pretensioners, a body structure that uses high-strength steel in key locations, Emergency Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, and dynamic stability control. Jaguar also emphasizes predictable chassis behavior as a safety aid during evasive maneuvering.
The main caveat is the lack of U.S. crash-test results, which leaves you with less certainty than you’d have in some rival luxury sedans.
Should I buy a 2015 Jaguar XF or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The XF is described as a stylish and luxurious choice that stands apart from the usual BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes-Benz alternatives, with classic front-engine rear-drive character and available all-wheel drive for winter weather.
The bottom line: If you want a distinctive luxury sedan with strong value, broad powertrain choice, and a personality that feels less mainstream than many rivals, the 2015 XF is the primary path to consider. If you’re shopping on price, focus on the cleanest, best-documented example you can find and be especially careful with history and condition, since the market includes a meaningful share of cars with prior incidents.
