How much does the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

There are 1,826 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and equipment.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners commonly praise its style, smooth handling, and family-friendly features like the backup camera. The user feedback also points to dependable, economical day-to-day use, which fits the Equinox’s straightforward family-crossover mission. In practical terms, that makes it a sensible choice if you want a quiet, versatile SUV rather than the flashiest or most feature-rich option in the class.

29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights dependable, economical ownership for family use, and the expert evaluation also describes the Equinox as a solid pick for most families based on its versatility and availability. The expert notes on the tech side also describe the MyLink system as reliable, even if it can be slow at times when entering addresses or recognizing commands.

J.D. Power data in the cost-effectiveness notes points to strong mechanical reliability, though body and interior quality were weaker than the mechanical side. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term ownership risk is less about the core drivetrain and more about finding a well-kept example with clean interior, body, and maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, interior wear, and evidence of prior repairs, since those are the areas most likely to separate a clean example from one that has had a harder life. It also helps to confirm that the features you want are actually present, because equipment varies a lot by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L starts with the 2.4-liter engine, a 6-speed automatic, Bluetooth phone, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and 60/40-split folding rear seats, while the LS adds satellite radio and body-colored exterior panels. The 1LT adds a 7-inch touchscreen MyLink radio, backup camera, and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the 2LT adds heated front seats, a premium stereo, automatic climate control, and optional leather and navigation. The LTZ adds rear park assist, forward-collision alert, lane-departure warning, halogen headlamps, and a power rear liftgate.
• Powertrain: You can shop a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque or an optional 3.6-liter V6 with 301 hp and 272 lb-ft of torque. The 4-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the better choice if you expect towing or more demanding driving.
• Safety package: Higher 2LT and LTZ trims add frontal-collision alert, lane-departure warnings, and parking sensors. Every trim except the base L comes with a rear-facing parking camera, so base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to that gap.
• Infotainment: The 1LT brings a 7-inch touchscreen MyLink radio, and the system supports Bluetooth streaming plus Pandora and Stitcher. The Equinox also has 4G/LTE hotspot capability, and higher trims can be fitted with dual rear-screen entertainment systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.4-liter is rated at 22 mpg city/32 highway in front-wheel-drive form, with a 10 percent reduction for all-wheel drive. The 3.6-liter V6 is rated at 17/24, with another 10 percent reduction for all-wheel drive.

Which 2015 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2015 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LS, 1LT, 2LT, LTZ.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest way into the Equinox, with the 2.4-liter engine, Bluetooth phone, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and split-folding rear seats. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live without the convenience and safety upgrades found higher up.
• LS: This trim adds satellite radio and body-colored exterior panels, so it is a modest step up in everyday livability without moving too far from the value end of the lineup.
• 1LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 7-inch touchscreen MyLink radio, backup camera, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. If you want the most useful comfort and tech upgrades without jumping too far in price, this is the one to target.
• 2LT: This trim adds heated front seats, a premium stereo, automatic climate control, and optional leather and navigation. It is the better pick if you want a more comfortable daily driver and are willing to pay for it.
• LTZ: This is the most feature-rich version, with rear park assist, forward-collision alert, lane-departure warning, halogen headlamps, and a power rear liftgate. It suits you best if you want the most equipment and the strongest safety content in the lineup.

The safety-package upgrades are concentrated in the higher 2LT and LTZ trims, while the base L misses the rear-facing parking camera.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Chevrolet Equinox?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,826 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,172, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $8,264 sits slightly below last year's $8,659.

That softer pricing suggests the Equinox is currently in a buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you are shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that value retention will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level, since the market is already pricing in age and the model’s modest feature set.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The Chevrolet Equinox received a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, including five-star ratings for side impact crashes and four-star ratings for front and rollover crashes. It also earned a Good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety across all tested categories.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Equinox comes standard with 4-wheel antilock brakes, tire pressure monitoring, daytime running lamps, driver and passenger airbags with side-impact bags, and head curtains up front. Higher 2LT and LTZ trims add frontal-collision alert, lane-departure warnings, and parking sensors, while every trim except the base L includes a rear-facing parking camera.

Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 model adds Wi-Fi hotspot capability and keeps the Equinox’s practical, family-focused setup intact.

The bottom line: If you want a straightforward used crossover with broad availability, a softer price trend, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2015 is a reasonable year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop aggressively for a lower-mileage, well-documented example; if you want more modern features or a newer feel, a later model year may be worth the extra money.
