Is the 2014 RAM 3500 a good car?

Yes — the 4.71/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, durability, and towing capability, and many also highlight the Cummins engine’s reliability. The overview also fits that feedback: you’re looking at a heavy-duty truck that blends serious capability with a more comfortable, better-equipped cabin, which makes it appealing if you want work-ready strength without giving up refinement. With 30.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback specifically calls out the reliability of the Cummins engine, along with durability and dependable towing performance. That combination suggests the truck can be a solid long-term ownership choice if it has been maintained properly and hasn’t been worked harder than its condition suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 RAM 3500?

At 67.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with accident records or repeated ownership issues. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of heavy use, wear from towing, and overall condition consistency. Because this is a heavy-duty truck, you’ll want to focus on how well the truck has been maintained rather than just the odometer reading.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 RAM 3500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 247 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,686, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $30,815 sits slightly below last year's $31,817.

That softer pricing trend can work in your favor if you’re buying now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the truck is especially clean and well equipped. For a seller, the key is to preserve condition and documentation, because buyers in this segment tend to reward trucks that look well cared for and ready for hard use. Strong maintenance history and a clean accident record should help your truck stand out when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, solid pricing, and a broad mix of listings to compare, the 2014 is a sensible place to focus. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to widen your search to nearby years and compare condition, accident history, and equipment closely before deciding.
