How much does the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 4.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,078 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.78/5 user-rated car with an expert rating of 6.17/10. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the luxury features, strong performance, stylish design, handling, acceleration, and interior quality. That lines up with the E-Class’s role as a midsize luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, premium materials, and a polished balance of comfort and capability.

For you, that means this model makes the most sense if you want a refined luxury sedan with a premium feel and confident road manners, especially if the badge and upscale image matter to you. 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable and trouble-free enough to inspire confidence, with praise centered on the overall ownership experience and the kind of long-term satisfaction that matters in a used luxury sedan. The expert evaluation also says this car’s reliability should prove better than average over time.

That said, used-buyer risk still comes down to maintenance history and how the car was treated, so a clean service record matters a lot on a premium model like this.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or a long option list. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, worn interior controls, and any evidence that the electronics or driver-assistance systems have been repaired or modified. Because this is a luxury sedan with a lot of available equipment, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The sedan lineup includes the E250 BlueTec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550 4Matic, E63 AMG 4Matic, and E63 AMG S 4Matic. The E250 BlueTec and E350 can be optioned with 4Matic all-wheel drive, while the Sport Styling Package changes the look with a sport grille, split-spoke wheels, a subtle body kit, and a sport-tuned suspension. If you want the best-value setup, the E350 is the most balanced starting point, while the AMG models add more standard equipment and a more aggressive character.
• Powertrain: The E350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a 7-speed automatic and all-wheel drive in 4Matic form, rated at 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. It also has automatic stop/start, Eco and Normal engine calibrations, and Eco and Sport transmission modes. If fuel economy matters most, the E250 BlueTec is the efficiency-focused choice.
• Safety package: Safety equipment is grouped into the Lane Tracking Package, which includes Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, and the Driver Assistance Package, which adds active versions of Lane Tracking features plus Distronic Plus cruise control with Steering Assist, Pre-Safe Brake with Pedestrian Detection, Pre-Safe Plus, and Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist. Some of these features are optional rather than standard, so check the exact build carefully.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses the COMAND system, and models with the optional Premium Package 1 and hard-drive navigation can access music from AM, FM, satellite radio, Internet radio, Bluetooth, or hard-disc storage. The system also supports mBrace2 telematics and Mercedes-Benz Apps, but it can be fussy to operate and slow to load.
• Fuel efficiency: The E350 4Matic is rated at 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The test car averaged 20.3 mpg during a week of testing.

Which 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 6 trim levels: E250 BlueTec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550 4Matic, E63 AMG 4Matic, and E63 AMG S 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• E250 BlueTec: This is the trim to consider if fuel economy is your top priority, since the content points to it as the efficiency-focused choice. It gives you the most economical path into the lineup, though you should expect a more basic setup than the higher trims.
• E350: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it balances strong performance, broad appeal, and a more accessible price point than the V8 and AMG models. It’s the one to target if you want the core E-Class experience without paying for the most expensive hardware.
• E400 Hybrid: Choose this if you want a different efficiency-oriented powertrain approach within the lineup and are interested in a more specialized version of the sedan.
• E550 4Matic: This trim adds a more powerful setup and standard all-wheel drive, making it a good fit if you want stronger performance and a more upscale feel.
• E63 AMG 4Matic: This is the performance-focused choice, with more standard equipment and a more aggressive character than the regular sedans.
• E63 AMG S 4Matic: Pick this if you want the most extreme version of the lineup, with the highest performance positioning and the most exclusive equipment.

Safety equipment is packaged into the relatively simple Lane Tracking Package and the more complex Driver Assistance Package, so verify whether the car you’re considering has the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,078 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,478, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $12,723 sits slightly below last year's $13,366.

That tells you the market has softened, which can work in your favor as a buyer but usually means a seller has less pricing power than before. If you’re planning to resell later, the current trend suggests you should buy carefully and avoid overpaying now, because future appreciation is unlikely in a market that has already moved down.

Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and strong history records should still hold up better than neglected ones, especially in a luxury segment where condition and options matter a lot. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

It earns no crash-test rating from either IIHS or NHTSA in the provided data.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety tech package is centered on Intelligent Drive, with a stereo-vision camera system and standard Collision Prevention Assist plus an improved Attention Assist system. Available features include Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist, Pre-Safe Brake, and Pre-Safe Plus.

One caveat is that some of the more advanced driver-assistance systems can feel intrusive or take time to get used to, especially Steering Assist and lane-centering behavior. If safety tech is a priority, make sure the specific car you’re considering has the package you want, since several features are optional.

Should I buy a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The year’s standout expert takeaway is that the E-Class remains a safe, comfortable, and dynamically capable luxury sedan with premium materials and advanced technology.

The bottom line: The 2014 E-Class makes sense if you want this generation’s luxury feel at a softer price and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and equipment. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained examples with the right safety and convenience options rather than chasing the cheapest listing.
