How much does the 2014 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 9.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 587 listings available, which gives you a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Kia Sorento earns a 4.55/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, smooth ride, spacious interior, and good safety features. That lines up well with the Sorento’s role as a family-friendly crossover that balances style, performance, safety, and substance, especially if you want a familiar package with meaningful updates rather than a full redesign.

The market also shows 28.6% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.55/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, and the expert evaluation also emphasizes the Sorento’s long warranty coverage and strong predicted reliability standing relative to rivals. The powertrain warranty is especially notable for buyers who want extra peace of mind, and the overall package is framed as one that can be counted on for family use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure prior maintenance and wear items were handled properly, since comfort and some control issues have been noted by owners.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Kia Sorento?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with multiple owners. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, interior wear, and any electrical or control-related quirks that owners have mentioned. If you want the best ownership experience, pay close attention to how the vehicle drives, how the cabin functions, and whether the equipment matches the listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is missing some equipment found higher up the range, while the EX V6 adds desirable comfort and convenience features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats, push-button ignition, and Kia’s UVO system. The SX adds a panoramic sunroof, navigation, a premium audio upgrade, blind-spot monitoring, a power liftgate, and heated or cooled front seats, while the SX-L adds even more luxury touches.
• Powertrain: The standard 4-cylinder makes 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, while the available 3.3-liter V6 delivers 290 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque and is the better choice if you want stronger passing power and towing ability.
• Safety package: All Sorentos include 6 airbags, front active headrests, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and electronic stability control. A rear-view camera is standard in all but LX trims, and blind-spot monitoring is available on higher trims.
• Infotainment: Higher trims get Kia’s UVO system with an 8-inch touchscreen, voice controls, smartphone-linked navigation features, and easy-to-use icons.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-drive 4-cylinder is rated at 20 mpg city/26 highway/22 combined, while the front-drive V6 is rated at 18/25/21 mpg. The all-wheel-drive V6 test vehicle returned 24.2 mpg on a long highway run.

Which 2014 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2014 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX V6, EX V6, SX, and SX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sorento experience with the standard 4-cylinder engine, Bluetooth, satellite radio, heated mirrors, and basic convenience features. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you give up several comfort and safety upgrades found higher up.
• LX V6: Choose this if you want the stronger V6 without moving all the way up the range. It should appeal to buyers who care more about power and towing than luxury features.
• EX V6: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a strong mix of comfort and convenience equipment, including leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, push-button ignition, and UVO.
• SX: This trim is for you if you want the most complete blend of features and capability before stepping into luxury territory. It adds the panoramic sunroof, navigation, premium audio, blind-spot monitoring, power liftgate, and heated or cooled front seats.
• SX-L: Pick this if you want the most upscale Sorento experience, with premium leather, a heated steering wheel, HID headlights, and heated second-row seats.

A rear-view camera is standard in all but LX trims, so that’s an important safety-package difference to keep in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 587 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,882, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $7,908 sits slightly below last year's $8,771.

That decline suggests the Sorento has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell. The market is still active enough that well-kept examples should remain easy to move, especially if they have strong equipment and clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.55/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2014 Kia Sorento earns a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and an overall five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia equips all Sorentos with 6 airbags, front active headrests, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and electronic stability control. A rear-view camera is standard in all but LX trims, so lower trims miss out on that added visibility aid.

Should I buy a 2014 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.55/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 update brings a revised front end, a stronger standard 4-cylinder, and an available V6 with improved output.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,282, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,908 average.
• It adds a more attractive, well-equipped package with a stronger emphasis on lasting build quality and fair pricing.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter buy because prices are lower and the model still offers strong safety and solid owner satisfaction. If you can spend more and want the next year’s refreshed appeal, the 2015 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014’s stronger market value.
