How much does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 6.81% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,572 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10. Owners repeatedly praise the spacious interior, luxurious features, comfortable ride, and high-tech options, and the overview frames it as a practical daily driver that still delivers serious off-road ability. That mix makes it appealing if you want an SUV that can handle rough terrain without giving up everyday usefulness. 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Drivers also describe it as dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on its comfortable ride, strong power, and features they can count on. The expert review adds that Jeep made significant progress in improving daily drivability without reducing off-road capability, which supports the idea that it can serve well over the long term. Still, used buyers should plan for ownership risk around reliability concerns and potentially expensive repairs tied to certain features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident history. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear from off-road use, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering. Because some capabilities depend on specific trim levels, it is worth confirming equipment before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Jeep serves the Grand Cherokee in five flavors: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT. The lineup ranges from practical to luxury-focused, and the base setup is less feature-rich than the higher trims, so you should verify the equipment you want before buying.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 290-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The review also notes a new clean-diesel V6 engine and available V8 powertrains, with the diesel praised by owners for its power.
• Safety package: The available Advanced Technology Group includes Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Some features are trim dependent, so check carefully.
• Infotainment: Uconnect Access uses an 8.4-inch color touchscreen with simple menus, crisp graphics, improved voice recognition, mobile Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth music streaming, hands-free text messaging, and Emergency Call/9-1-1 service.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites a mixed-driving test average of 18.8 mpg and an EPA combined rating of 19 mpg.

Which 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 5 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core capability and daily usefulness at the lowest likely cost.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a more upscale cabin feel and the kind of equipment that makes the Grand Cherokee easier to live with every day.
• Overland: Choose this if you want a more luxury-leaning setup and are willing to pay more for added comfort and refinement.
• Summit: This trim is aimed at buyers who want the most upscale Grand Cherokee experience and the richest feature content.
• SRT: This is the performance-focused choice if you want the pavement-oriented, track-ready character described in the review.

The safety content also notes that some features are available depending on trim level, so confirm the exact equipment on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,572 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,565, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $10,565 sits slightly below last year's $11,338.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than neglected ones, especially since buyers are already shopping with price sensitivity in mind.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with three-star rollover resistance for 2WD models and four-star rollover resistance for 4WD models. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it the highest rating of Good in 4 of its 5 evaluations.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep says the Grand Cherokee offers over 70 safety- and security-related features, including standard rain-brake support, ready-alert braking, and a driver knee airbag. The available Advanced Technology Group adds Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Some safety equipment is trim dependent, so you should verify what is installed on any used example. The review also notes that the Grand Cherokee had not been evaluated in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test at the time.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Jeep made significant progress in improving daily drivability without reducing ultimate off-roading capability.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,459, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,565 average.
• It offers a wider range of trims and engines, giving you more ways to tailor the SUV to your needs.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you want more configuration flexibility and do not mind paying more, the 2015 is the better alternative.

How does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee compare to the 2014 Dodge Durango?

Our experts score the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 7.5/10 and the 2014 Dodge Durango 7.5/10.

The Grand Cherokee leans more toward off-road capability and refinement, while the Durango matches it on overall expert score with a slightly different value profile. The Jeep has a lower average used price and a much larger pool of listings, which gives you more shopping leverage. The Durango edges it on city MPG and has a slightly lower average used price, but the Grand Cherokee offers the stronger deal share.
