How much does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 6.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,658 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.74/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, luxurious features, comfortable ride, and high-tech options. The overview also points to a vehicle that works well as both a practical daily driver and a capable SUV for buyers who want serious off-road ability without giving up everyday usefulness.

With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.74/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers enjoy living with over time, especially for its comfort, capability, and everyday usefulness. At the same time, the same feedback also flags reliability concerns and expensive repairs tied to certain features, so you should not assume every example will be trouble-free.

The expert review also notes average predicted reliability from major third-party sources, which reinforces the need to shop carefully. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable only if you verify maintenance history and avoid neglected examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing includes off-road hardware or advanced convenience features. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Jeep serves the Grand Cherokee in five flavors: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT. The base setup is more stripped down than the higher trims, while the upper trims add more luxury and capability; the SRT is the pavement-performance model.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 290-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 with an 8-speed automatic, and Jeep also offers a clean-diesel V6. The V6 is tuned for better fuel economy, while the available V8s are less conservative with fuel.
• Safety package: Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation is part of the optional Advanced Technology Group, which also includes Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Some features are trim dependent.
• Infotainment: Uconnect Access brings an 8.4-inch color touchscreen, simple menus, crisp graphics, improved voice recognition, mobile Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth music streaming, hands-free text messaging, and Emergency Call/9-1-1 service.

Which 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 5 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core capability and utility without paying for extra luxury equipment.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale cabin and the kind of equipment that makes the Grand Cherokee feel properly equipped for daily use.
• Overland: Choose this if you want a more premium feel and more comfort-focused equipment than the Limited.
• Summit: This is the luxury-leaning pick, aimed at buyers who want the most upscale version of the standard Grand Cherokee lineup.
• SRT: Pick this only if you want the performance-oriented model with track-focused tuning rather than the traditional trail-first setup.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation is part of the optional Advanced Technology Group, so not every trim gets every driver-assistance feature by default.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,658 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,677, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $10,751 sits slightly below last year's $11,448.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation. The key for future resale is avoiding overpaying now, because the market has already shown a softer pricing trend.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.74/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS gives it the highest rating of Good in 4 of its 5 evaluations.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep says the Grand Cherokee offers over 70 safety- and security-related features, including standard rain-brake support, ready-alert braking, and a driver knee airbag. The optional Advanced Technology Group adds Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Depending on trim level, you can also get Trailer Sway Control, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive headlights, run-flat tires, and Call 9-1-1 services.

One caveat to keep in mind is that the NHTSA gives 2WD models a lower rollover resistance rating of three-star while 4WD models rate four-star for rollover resistance.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.74/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Jeep emphasizes improved daily drivability without giving up off-road capability.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,710, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,751 average.
• It offers a broader range of trims and engines for more customization.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you want more configuration flexibility and are willing to pay more, the 2015 is the better alternative. For most used buyers, the 2014 makes the most sense when you find a clean, well-maintained example at the low end of the market.
