How much does the 2014 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 2.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

With 792 listings available, you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — 4.44/5 from owners and 6.83/10 from experts point to a solid used-family-SUV choice. The Pilot’s appeal comes through in its spacious seating, comfort, reliability, and ability to carry a larger number of passengers, which fits the vehicle’s practical, utility-first mission. If you want a family-size crossover that prioritizes room for people and cargo over flash, the Pilot lines up well with that use case. 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.44/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also emphasizes reliability, and the broader review summary points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by noting better-than-average reliability expectations and a cost-of-ownership profile that supports long-term use. Honda’s maintenance-friendly ownership picture and the Pilot’s practical design make it a sensible used buy, though you should still watch for age-related wear and any signs of hard shifting.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually strong. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the transmission behaves on a test drive, since owner feedback mentions hard shifting. Because this is a family SUV, make sure the cabin, seating, and cargo areas match the condition you expect from the mileage and price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the least expensive version and is the most basic, while the EX adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate with separate liftglass. The Touring adds navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system, plus a premium audio system and memory for the driver’s seat.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Variable Cylinder Management helps conserve fuel, and available 4WD with Variable Torque Management adds traction support and a Lock mode for low-speed conditions.
• Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is standard, and the Pilot’s crash-test performance is a major strength. The available safety tech is limited compared with newer SUVs, so trim choice does not bring a large driver-assistance upgrade.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, triple-zone climate control with a humidity sensor, and a basic reversing camera. Higher trims can add navigation, an upgraded reversing camera, rear-seat DVD entertainment, a 115-volt power outlet, video input jacks, and a premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Touring 4WD returns 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined, and skipping 4WD improves those figures by 1 mpg in each category.

Which 2014 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and mainly need the Pilot’s space and utility. It gives you the core Pilot formula without the comfort and convenience upgrades found higher up the range.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment like a power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want the Pilot to feel more family-friendly and comfortable, thanks to leather seats, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a power tailgate. It is the sweet spot for buyers who want more comfort without going all the way to the top trim.
• Touring: Pick this if you want the most equipment, including navigation, rear-seat entertainment, premium audio, and driver-seat memory. It makes the most sense if you’ll use the added convenience and entertainment features regularly.

The safety content notes that the Pilot was a Top Safety Pick, but it had not been subjected to the small-overlap frontal-impact test at the time of review.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 792 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,603, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $10,824 sits slightly below last year's $11,091.

That softer pricing suggests the Pilot has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a later seller, that matters because a lower entry cost can reduce the amount of value left to lose. The Pilot’s practical reputation and strong owner satisfaction should help keep demand steady among shoppers who need space and utility.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2014 Honda Pilot earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA and was named a Top Safety Pick by IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is designed to help disperse crash energy away from the passenger compartment. The Pilot’s safety equipment is basic by modern standards, and the review notes that it lacks many newer driver-assistance technologies. The main caveat is that the IIHS Top Safety Pick result did not include the small-overlap frontal-impact test at the time of review.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It delivers a practical, space-first family-SUV formula with strong utility and a high safety reputation.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,516, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,824 average.
• It adds a roomier, 3-row, 8-passenger layout.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because it costs less and still delivers the Pilot’s core strengths. If you can spend more and want the next model year’s roomier family layout, the 2015 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014.
