What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?

At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or inconsistent maintenance. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear, and any evidence of engine-related repairs, since that is the main ownership concern raised by shoppers. A clean-looking listing is not enough here; you want documentation that supports the car’s mechanical history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim comes with Ford’s Sync multimedia system, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a multifunction message center with an LCD information screen. The SE adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey, while the Titanium adds a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start.
• Powertrain: All trims use a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. A 5-speed manual is the enthusiast-friendly choice, a 6-speed automatic is available, and a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine is also mentioned as coming to SE trims.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
• Infotainment: Ford Sync comes standard, including MyFordTouch touchscreen functionality. The system is described as having a touchscreen layout and software that had some criticism, though by 2014 many of the earlier issues had been improved.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5-speed manual is rated at 27 mpg city and 38 highway, while the 6-speed automatic is listed at 29 city and 39 highway. The 1.0-liter turbocharged engine is said to be capable of as much as 35 mpg on the highway.

Which 2014 Ford Fiesta trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Fiesta is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Fiesta experience with Sync, an auxiliary input jack, and the LCD message center. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and do not need extra convenience features.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds cruise control, a trip computer, ambient lighting, and MyKey without jumping all the way to the top trim. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• Titanium: This is the most feature-rich choice, adding a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start. It suits you best if you want the most convenience and parking help from the lineup.

The Titanium trim is the one that adds the backup camera and reverse-sensing system, so it is the safest-feeling choice if those features matter most to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 346 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,203, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Fiesta's resale value?

The current average of $6,203 sits slightly below last year's $6,535.

That softer pricing suggests the Fiesta is in a buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you are shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that value retention will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history rather than on market momentum alone. Well-kept examples should still draw interest because the car’s low running-cost appeal remains part of its value story.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta safe?

The Fiesta earned four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings for the driver in a frontal crash, four-star ratings for the front passenger in the same test, four-star ratings for front-row side impact, and five-star ratings for second-row side impact.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The main caveat is that the crash-test results are solid rather than class-leading, so you should still prioritize a clean history and well-documented maintenance when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fiesta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 refresh brings standout styling and a more polished interior with important entertainment technology.

Consider the 2015 if:

• It adds an EcoBoost model and broadens the Fiesta’s personality toward luxury or sportiness.

The bottom line: If you want the better-looking, better-equipped value play, the 2014 is the stronger buy. If you are willing to spend more for a broader powertrain mix and a slightly newer model year, the 2015 is worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014’s softer pricing and decent deal availability make it the more compelling starting point.
