Used 2009 Pontiac G3 for Sale near Lansing, MI
Pontiac now offers four cars capable of more than 30 mpg on the highway, and the G3, rated at 27/34 mpg, is its latest. The catch? This five-door hatchback is simply a rebadged Chevy Aveo, which some have found unreliable and not as efficient as advertised. The G3, like the Aveo, is engineered and built in South Korea by GM Daewoo, and it’s appeared across the globe under a range of guises from the Holden Barina in Australia to the Daewoo Gentra.
The only changes from the Aveo are the G3’s front and rear ends. The “smiling” front grill and standard rear spoiler may appeal to some, but they are hardly enough reason to buy a G3 when a Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris, and even Pontiac’s own Vibe offer much more at a similar price.
The G3 comes with a 1.6-liter, 106-hp inline four that produces 105 lb-ft of torque connected to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. 14-inch steel wheels come standard, while 15-inch, five-spoke painted aluminum wheels are available with the sport package.
Dual-stage frontal and side-impact airbags for the front seat come standard, as does one year of the OnStar Safe and Sound package. Four-wheel antilock brakes (disc in the front, drum in the rear), however, are optional.
The G3 has single-zone air-conditioning, a CD/MP3 audio system with six speakers and an auxiliary jack, foglamps, and the rear spoiler. Pontiac says the G3 has more rear-seat legroom than the Fit or Yaris and more shoulder and hip room than the Fit, Yaris, and Versa. The rear seats also fold down for added cargo room.
The G3's extra room and standard amenities may be nice, but is that what shoppers are really looking for in an entry-level economy car?

(7 reviews)Bough a color Black one in sept/2008. I was expecting to have many problems with it because this is a GMC, but no, that thing just keep running. It has 60000 Km now (Dec/2010) and only had a problem with the fuel tank cap, changed under warranty, in the 1st week of owning it. Headlights are awesome (low beams more intense than normal high beams in other cars), reasonably comfortable for a cheap car. Power is fine. Plastic everywhere is ok -> I have no rust at all (this cars sleeps on the street all the time). Cheap in gas. Power nothing accesories -> less stuff that can get broken. Always starts, so far in -30C it still did start without plugging it in.
Exceptional performance..good gas mileage..handles very nicely. It has everything we wanted in a car..really don't have any complaints. Many people have stopped us just to ask questions about our car..and all have positive reactions. Proud to own our G3..great car!
this review is for pontiac wave 5 hatchback. solid car, good in winter (with tigerpaw uniroyal tires....). no problems after 100,000km. car is simple to make with minimal electronic features, so it is simple to fix yourself. nothing complicated, no special tools. the car itself was new and cheap, gets the job done. sore ass as chair not comfortable :( oh, one thine is the CD player doesn't work until car warms up.. ya, that's anoying.. but whatever, just wait 5 minutes. besides, i didn't buy the car to play CDs
I love ed my g3 .ir great on gas . and it is easy to work on and parts are real cheap compare to other.
A real trash can, 10 times or more at the dealership for repair; rattles, engine, transmission, worst time; 10 weeks. Bad re-sale value, no feeling at all on pedals, bad suspension, terrible sound system. not even close to have good seats. bad fuel economy, What a mistake to buy this car. By the way, it's not and ECOTEC engine, it as a timing belt, and it cost me 317$ +tax just the belt.
