2008 GMC Savana

Interior updates and a newly standard tire monitor represent the major changes to the 2008 GMC Savana, the passenger version of the large van. Side curtain airbags for all three rows have also been added to the dual front airbags, though side impact ratings have not yet been tested. The 2008 Savana does earn five stars in frontal impact tests, but only three in rollovers. The instrument panel, dials, steering wheel, radio, and cloth material also receive revisions, in an attempt to bring some sort of style to a van used mostly for fleet or commercial purposes.
The passenger van comes in two trims, LS and LT. Air conditioning, cruise control, and a radio populate the sparsely-equipped LS, while the LT gets power features and remote entry. A CD player and power front seats are optional. Both trims come in either a half-ton (1500) or one-ton (3500) weight in a Regular 135-inch wheelbase. An Extended 155-inch wheelbase is offered in the 3500 models, boosting cargo capacity from 204 to 236 cubic feet. Seats can be configured to hold eight, 12, or 15 passengers, with the rear rows split-folding. All trims are rear-wheel drive, but AWD is available in the half-ton models.
The standard engine in the 2008 GMC Savana 1500 trims is a 5.3-liter, 301-hp V8, while the 3500 trims are powered by a 6.0-liter, 323-hp V8. A 4-speed automatic is the only transmission, but comes with an overdrive feature in the 3500 trims. Depending on the engine and size of your 2008 Savana, towing capacity ranges from 5300 to 9800 pounds. All trims ride on 16-inch wheels and come standard with ABS brakes and traction and stability control. Not particularly aimed at families (unless you're Brad and Angie), the 2008 GMC Savana works well as a shuttle van, with decent power and versatility in terms of seating and cargo capacity. Outdated, bland styling and a 14/19 mpg don't earn high points for the van.
