Overview

The 2 seat, 2 door 2007 Saturn Sky represents a bold attempt by a vanilla manufacturer to add some flavor to its lineup. The first convertible in this series uses a manually-operated fabric top and the design brings to mind the Pontiac Solstice, which GM assembles in the same Delaware plant. 5 speed manual transmission comes standard and 5 speed automatic comes as an option. Other standard features include air conditioning, power windows, power locks, a cd player, and ABS brakes.
The 2007 Saturn Sky has 2 trims: the Roadster and the higher end Red Line. The Roadster delivers premium performance with a 2.4 L, 177 hp 4 cylinder engine and gets 21 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway. The Red Line uses a 2.0 L, 260 4 cylinder engine and gets 21 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway. As with most roadsters, the sleek steel body panels and smooth design make up for the diminished safety features, which include frontal airbags.
While the Saturn Sky has made a positive first impression with hipper consumers, reviewers warn that operating the top takes patience. The driver must actually step out of the car, pull back the fabric, and firmly fold the top under the latch in the back. This leaves almost no room in the trunk, which holds 5.4 cubic feet with the top up and 2 cubic feet with the top down. Despite these concerns, the Sky has as much room for a roadster as you could expect. More importantly, the new model allows Saturn drivers to feel the wind in their hair for once.

I purchased the car as part of the pre-release and it is one of the first ever Skys made. Mine is number 2308. It does not mean much to some, but if you are a car guy or girl the first production runs of a model are usually the ones most sort after as a collectable. In 2006 they released 10k base models and 1.5k Red line. I have enjoyed the car for many years, the handling and pleasure of driving the car is something you must experience. It's a shame GM dropped the line, it was the Corvette for us folks with beer budget wallets and champagne taste :). Even Road and Track expressed how delighted they were with the look, feel and drive of the car. Most of the drives I took the car on where long drives on country roads. It was a great way to unwind from a hectic work week. Lot’s of companies out there with bolt on toys for the Sky , but I kept mine stock. There is a company that will stuff an LS1 motor and whole new drive train if you you desire a rocket instead of a roadster. For the 2.4 liter none turbo there are a few companies that created a Hemi with 3 chip set stages (For those who can’t wait for a turbo to spin up). All in All great car that ended production too soon. Isn’t that the problem with GM , make something good and then remove it. Why did they ever kill the Camaro? That’s right they put it on the Impala platform to save money

Has the looks, quality and performance of sports cars costing several thousands of dollars more than the Sky Red Line. Probably the best sports car there is for the money. It's a shame that it was discontinued. Will probably be a sought after classic someday.

This car is a great and fun car to drive on the road, but it only needs a hands-free system.

I bought this car over 6 yrs ago and it has been so much fun to drive and own. It turns heads wherever you go and impresses those who have never seen it before. Probably at least once a year someone approaches me with an offer to buy it. They only made approx 10k of these cars a year for three yrs so they are a collectors car, and just driving around I can tell you, there arent many around. (This only makes them stand out even more.) Saturn, being a division of GM, made it easy to still get parts and be very reliable. It has great power-even the base model, it accelerates well and corners like its on rails. Braking is excellent. Good amount of torch too. I always feel safe driving in it, but I generally drive it very defensively- It makes a great second or weekend car, but right now it is my daily driver.
