Used 2006 Hyundai Sonata V6 LX FWD for Sale near Minneapolis, MN
4.6 Overall rating
(5 reviews)I bought this 2006 Sonata premium in sept 2oo5. We wre now jan. 2010. I had no problem whatsoever, only oil changes. Very satified with it. I never expected this result. I have 41000 kms, about 25000 miles. I would buy another Sonata without hesitation.
Replaced the Hyundai battery twice and the last time installed a non-Hyundai battery with 5 years warranty. I would buy another Hyundai automobile, except for the service provided by the dealerships is way too expensive plus they add 10% on top of the normal bill for "Materials and supplies" an insult to consumers.
In December 2005, I purchased two Sonatas. Same trim (LX) different colors for me and my wife. We still own them and have driven one 62,000 miles and the other 67,000 miles. Light duty, some highway miles but mostly around town. Overall, the cars have done well by us. They haul family and lots of stuff in the back, they look nice, they are quick and smooth on the acceleration front, and came loaded with lots of goodies. My wife's starter died at 45,000 miles, was replaced under warranty. Her driver's sun visor died at 49,000 miles, was replaced under warranty. My general impression is that Hyundai made a decent car, they packaged it nicely and sold it with a generous value proposition in 2006. A comparable Honda was over $30K and our cars were each $23,400. But now, I've dropped $700 to repair the rear power door locks which started dying at 50,000 miles and replaced that silly sun visor which died out of warranty. I wrote Hyundai asking for some sort of compensation and they originally told me to get lost. Update to this story: I wrote to the President of Hyundai North America in December 2012 and they recently agreed that my situation was unusual and have agreed to stand by their vehicles. I am grateful that someone in Hyundai recognized the importance of brand loyalty. I've changed my tune. Hyundai represents a good value overall, and I will consider purchasing another one in the future. And now, the company apparently stands behind their vehicles and that is an outstanding comfort level increase for me.
I basically like everything about this car expect two things so far. 1) It seems to always be having some kind of emission issue. First it was the O2 sensor, then it was some vapor leak. Actually my check engine light is on now can't be bother to take it in till my next inspection, I know it has something to do w/ the emission system. 2) I don't know so much if this is an issue with the car of if I just got ripped off by the mechanic. Well, the 3rd light needed to be replace and in order for that to be done, the mechanic told me he had to remove the back seats. Can you say hiked up labor cost, cause I can. Now why would they manufacture a car where replacing a $2.00 blub cost me over $100??
