Performance... More than expected out of a 3.4 Braking... Good braking especially for the weight of the car Handling... Some body roll, corners better than the average coupe The car has great looks especially with the ram air hood. Interior looks great very compfy even on long trips. as far as gas mileage goes it could be better but im not a slow driver... Maintenance... grand ams have been known for having alot of problems i have had the usual pontiac problems besides that nothing big or unusual I have a lot of fun driving my car...its not the fastest but it is a very enjoyable ride!

It's a good dependable and reliable car that also looks hot with it's own individualist look. It's gas mileage is acceptable and has a functional interior with more space then what it appears from the outside. I would highly recommend such a car to anyone.

This car has been a great one for me. I have been driving it daily for about 2.5 years and have had to do very minimal work to it. It gets 28 mpg on average and has decent power for a small V6. The car is actually very fun to drive and handles well.

I like my car for the most part, i just wish i still had my mustang. It handles well and i don't mind driving it. I like the fact that it has 4 doors too so then i don't have to get out to let people out of my back seat.

In 2003, the Pontiac Grand Am became Pontiac's only compact car offering in its lineup, as the small Sunfire was discontinued. This could only increase the Grand Am's already high popularity (among the top ten cars sold in the U.S.), along with its stylish looks and energetic performance in the guise of an affordable family car. The SE2 returns in the 2003 Grand Am, but only as a sedan. In fact, all SE, SE1, and SE2 trims are sedans only. The GT and GT1 come in sedan or coupe. The SE and SE1 feature the 2.2 Ecotec, 140-hp engine and either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The SE2, GT, and GT1 come with the 3.4-liter, 170-hp V6 (175-hp in the GTs). The V6 is matched only with the auto tran. While the GTs feature more sports tuning, the SE2 is an upgraded family sedan, offering luxuries such as a 6-way driver's seat, leather trim, and cruise control. Other additions in the 2003 Grand Am are an XM radio option and standard OnStar on all but the base SE. The SE also loses standard ABS, which becomes an option in 2003. On the outside, the ribbed body cladding is removed from all SE sedans, but the racier GT gets to keep it along with a lower ride height, sunroof, and rear spoiler. A 30th anniversary Grand Am package is offered in the GT trims only. Most 2003 Grand Am owners are pleased with the engine performance, even in the I4. They say the handling is excellent and the driving experience fun and sporty. Overwhelmingly, owners are drawn to their Grand Ams for the outside appearance. Classic, yet with a touch of sporty aggressiveness. But on the inside, the seats, storage room, and dash layout are practical for family use. Complaints focus on a cramped rear seat, particularly in the coupe, and a general feeling that the seats are too low and uncomfortable for long trips. Repairs will set you back, and owners point out early brake pad and rotor wear and intake manifold problems. They also want a manual transmission in the V6.
