The Mitsubishi Galant receives a face lift for the 2002 model year, highlighted by interior and exterior design changes, safety enhancements, and a few new features. Fuel economy is estimated at 21/28 mpg with the four and 20/27 mpg with the V-6. Both engines are mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The Galant earns high marks for handling, ride quality and acceleration (with the V-6). The GTZ's sport suspension and rigid chassis make for better negotiation of tight corners, but all Galants feature controlled and athletic road manners. Engine and wind noise are more adequately dampened in this new model, and the interior controls are functional and well-placed.
