The 1997 TL remains primarily unchanged from the car's debut in 1996. The 1997 TL has two trims, each named after its engine: the 2.5 and 3.2.
The 2.5 has a 2.5-liter I5 rated at 176 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque and gets 20/25 mileage. The 3.2 has a 3.2-liter V6 rated at 200 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque and has estimated fuel economy of 19/24. The 3.2 is a little more luxurious, with features such as leather seats part of the standard package rather than a costly option.
Drivers love the styling and handling of the 1997 TL. A lot of noted that you still see a number of 1997 TL's on the road for excellent reason: they stand the test of time, and need very few repairs. Of course, note owners, when repairs are needed, they are costly. Like with the 1996 TL, several have complained about a lack of leg room in both the front and back seats.
4.4 Overall rating
(8 reviews)Performance is overall good: excellent high speed breaking and cornering, good acceleration, and melodic exhaust note. Build quality meets the high expectations one would expect from Honda/Acura. Appearance of the styling of the car is somewhat conservative, but has sporty features. Cost of ownership is a little spendy (premium fuel demanded and Acura certified parts recommended), but reliability makes up for much of the price (car is now 11 years old!). Fun to Drive!
performance: fast, strong car Build Quality: great quality car solid. Apper: luxuriant, and stylish CoO: cheep easy to find parts, but aftermarket parts are very limited FF: this car is a blast, comfortable and fast. what more could you want?
has great pick up, smooth quiet ride, all leather seats, cruise control, no dents bumps or scratches, problem free car
I've had mine for 8 years. I still think it looks sharp. Repairs have been minimal. People are amazed it's 13 years old. Not a lot of rear leg room but my kids have tiny legs (for now) The End.
A bit vanilla, but otherwise she's been bulletproof. Comfy, somewhat sporty, excellent if thirsty engine. What would make for exponential improvement though is another gear in the tranny, 4 doesn't cut it for the 2.5L engine, especially when driving in the city
