In advance of a 1996 redesign, the 1995 Toyota 4Runner remained unchanged from the 1994 version, with the exception of exterior taping to distinguish the V6 models. A new cupholder seems to have been misplaced, especially if you are toting a hot beverage: It is right in front of the vents. Reviewers loved the car's roominess and off-road capabilities, but they did not like its inefficient gas usage and lack of power, especially on hills and when passing. The standard engine remained a 2.4-liter inline-four, with a 3.0-liter V6 available as an upgrade. Diesel-engine versions of the '95 4Runner were available only in Japan.
