car of the year 1992+1993, 1275CC Twin cam 16V DOHC electronic fuel injected all aluminium engine capable of revving to 9000rpm. 76bhp from factory but well over 115bhp with nothing more than an ECU remap and a 4 branch manifold, weighing only 750kg's (ish) and with 5 speed close ratio gearbox (as compared to fiestas and saxos) 0-60 can be had in as little as 8.5 seconds!! add that to japanese build quality and reliability and you have a car that is unmatched in any sector, especially when you can get one now for £300!! bargain!

I named this car Asprin. It was small, white and made me feel better. On the positive side, the Micra was economical, 500 miles on a spoonfull and excellent fun to drive. Good enough off the lights, and would hold 70 on the motorway without too many complaints. Seated 4 adults in no particular discomfort on short journeys. Reliable when maintained, the parts for this car came at pocket money prices on eBay,and were not too expensive from the local car spares shop. Bad points.. The electrical system leaves a lot to be desired, the fuse boxes are badly positioned and pick up moisture easily when it's raining, causing the fuses to corrode away. If yours has a misfire, check the fuses next to the battery first. One other problem, the Micra does not recover well when the rear end slides out corners, the short wheelbase and little tyres don't regain traction too easily, hence I hit the crash barrier in mine, and properly mashed it.
