Reviewed a 1995 Ford E-350 XL Econoline Cargo Van Extended on Jul 17, 2008
I bought my van in 2003 for work. I bought it from a bookstore which was downsizing their company and the van was in great condition. The 5.8l engine has plenty of power and I love the limited slip rearend, when I go on jobsites that are somewhat sandy and I see other E-150 or E-250 which did not come with or was an option for limited-slip all stuck. I've added lighted running boards, lighted bumper sticks, magnaflow exhaust, K&N air filter, and a performance chip from JET. I bought it with 133,000 mi on it and now has 202,000. I'm just now starting to experience problems with the tranny. Hard shifts. I'm going to install a shift correction kit in the valve body first to see if this helps prolong the tranny before a complete rebuild. Engine, knock on wood has been A+. The engine itself no problems, just replaced parts due to wear like, waterpump, radiator ( my I suggest using a Modine radiator), battery, wipper motor, ball joints, brakes, shocks. I had extra springs added to rear leaf springs from Tampa Springs and WOW what a difference! No more rear van sags due to cargo weight and it drives safer. ( I can steer again) If you are going to keep weight in the cargo area have this done. This is a great all around work van or whatever van.
