For its final year of availability in North American, the Volkswagen Fox received a few minor upgrades. The two-door base model was redubbed the Fox Polo, and two- and four-door Fox Wolfsburg trim packages were introduced. As in previous years, all Fox models were powered by a fuel-injected, 81-horsepower four-cylinder engine, which was linked to a five-speed manual transmission. An automatic transmission was not available.
Air conditioning was added to the Fox's list of standard features for 1993. Other features included bucket seats, power brakes, and a rear window defroster. A cassette player was among the few options available.
Drivers called the Volkswagen Fox reliable, economical, and mechanically sound, as well as easy to maintain. Parts were easy to find and relatively inexpensive, and with routine maintenance, drivers noted, the car could have a long life span.

(6 reviews)This car is pretty sweet. I'll admit its old and I got it because it was cheap but its got some decent performance and is really fun to drive. It gets at least 30 mpg so its pretty good as far as that goes. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a set of wheels and wants to save some cash.
looks like something only a mother would love. I dig it, mainly because there are no others on the road here. It is in pretty good shape for a 15 year old car living in Northwest Montana. There are a few things I want to do to get it back to a normal car. It has no parking brake, no horn and stock rear drum brakes. Something about the car i dont like....well, the previous owner put a fart can exhaust on it. Drives me insane, i cant stand it much longer! I might just tear it off and go straight pipe. Would be a MUCH better sound than that POS muffler!
performance for an everyday driver good build quality has not had to be repaired appearance needs a new paint job cost of ownership couple hundred a year fun factor i enjoy driving my 5 speed fox would like to find a turbo diesel to drop in it though
I have had my 1993 volkswagen fox for about three years now, and absolutely love it. 81 hp is not much, but this little car weighs next to nothing only blemishes are where two people hit each of my doors. sucks, because it had no dents when i bought it. interior and exterior are stock, but you can't do much aftermarket with a fox =) great gas mileage-average around 32 this is one sweet ride.
this car is a beast, i have taken it on maby road trips and never had a problem it rides very nice for a small vehicle definatley a good vehicle for someone who doesnt care about the car that they drive but would have to at least do oil changes
