Reviewed a 1991 Mercury LS Coupe RWD on May 6, 2010

Performance - acceleration lags a bit off the start but picks up quickly to a top speed of 165. The combination of a heavy body and a soft suspension make the cornering a bit "boaty". It is a bit under-braked. Build Quality - It is a very heavy, and tough built car, no rust other than one of the subframe mounts which was replaced in '09. The transmission currently needs a valve body rebuild but other than that it is very reliable. Appearance - I personally like the look of this car, It has a sloped front with a notchback rear window. Chrome grill, and emblems. Interior has the leather/cloth combination trim, sport gauge package and premium audio package. Cost of ownership - This car is fairly reasonable to own, gas mileage suffers in the city but is great on the highway (15 city / 28 highway). It has not needed any costly repairs in the time that I've owned it. Fun Factor - This car is very fun to drive, the sound of the V8 engine under hard acceleration is very pleasing. The high amount of torque makes it very fun to drift and do burnouts. While this car definitely wouldn't win in a cornering contest, it will reach high speeds very quickly. I personally would have liked to have the XR7 model instead of the LS because the XR7 had an adaptive sport suspension, ABS, Traction Control and a sportier interior.
