1988 Mercury Cougar Review
by Josh

Good car to mess with.

Lots of Torque, heavy but with good reason, the car was loaded for 1988. Best thing about it, it was built on the fox chassis. So most 79 to 93 mustang parts would fit. Mileage was good on the highway thanks to 2.73 gears in the axle, but in town left something to be desired.

1987 Mercury Cougar Used Cars in Wadena, MN 56482

Price: $2,495

Mileage: 154,999

Location: Wadena, MN 56482

Certified Pre-Owned: No Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic Color: Gray Description: Used 1987 Mercury Cougar for sale - $2,495, 154,999 miles
Avg. Dealer Rating: (1 review) "Bought the vehicle as is which usually comes with a few things wrong not usually road worthy issues. I pulled off the lot and found out I had a tail light out and the front driver side shock was shot. I hit the four lane and at 65 the shimmy and bounce was horrible. On top of that I got an IOU for detailing from the salesman, an engine light before I got out of town ( luckily just an O2 sensor), a park assist service light among other things. When I contacted the salesman about the road worthy issues I was told sorry for the annoyance. Not exactly the response your looking for. Maybe I should have checked the vehicle better but a vehicle should never be sold with safety and road worthy issues. Won't go back there!"

1987 Mercury Cougar Used Cars in Shenandoah, PA 17976

Price: Negotiable

Mileage: 88,185

Location: Shenandoah, PA 17976

Certified Pre-Owned: No Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic Description: Used 1987 Mercury Cougar for sale , 88,185 miles
Avg. Dealer Rating: (1 review) "Called to check on availability and price of a listed vehicle. Always suspicious when a dealer won't tell you how much they want for a vehicle without talking to you first to push the hard sell. They called back promptly and told me they were asking approximately $3000 over the absolute max value (checked KBB, Edmunds, CarGurus and two other sites) listed. When I asked why they were asking so much, they replied that they had invested over $2000 to bring it up to par. That doesn't make much sense. Regardless of what they spent to bring it up to it's max value, it's still only worth max value. At 10 years old and almost a 100k on vehicle I just had to pass on this logic. They actually seemed offended at my bringing up the actual provable value of the vehicle."
