I bought this truck new in 1987 and have owned it for almost 26 years. It has been extremely reliable. I have only had to replace the starter and the clutch. It still has the original water pump and alternator. I have only had to replace the front break pads twice and the rear breaks have never needed to be replaced. Since I've always lived close to where I work, it only has about 120,000 miles on it. Over all, I have really enjoyed owning this truck and have no plans to replace it.

Brutus is the best truck ever. I might even like it better than my new car, the Rx-8, based purely on emotional attachment. It's got a nice little 2.4 liter non-turbo edition of Toyota's 4 cyl. engine and it's combined with a small suspension lift as well as 33 inch all terrain tires. As you could imagine this thing loves to burn rubber at every opportunity; total drag racer fo sho. Not. But it's a beast off road with lots of low end torque and its fun to drive because you can see over pretty much everyone except the losers in lifted Fords, Dodges, Chevys. Hey, at least I get 20 mpg in my truck, eh. Needed an axle repaired when I bought it, also a replaced fuel pump and a fixed crack in the radiator. Alternator went out about a year after I bought it. Replaced that, got it tuned up, hasn't had a problem since and it's got 287,500 miles. Not surprising, it's a Toyota. Interior is in excellent condition for how old the truck is and what it's been used for. Exterior is decent. There are a few dents here and there and it looks like someone took a knife to the front hood (I still don't know what happened to that) and scraped off the paint and part of the metal. 4wd still works great, gets awesome traction. Installed some HID clear bright white headlights in effort to improve visibility, but I was disappointed overall. Low beams are too dim and high beams are awesome for brightness but don't project far enough. Also installed a JVC CD player with some new speakers a few years back. Sounded better but still not great. I would definitely recommend this (specific) truck to a friend, but I doubt I'd let many of my friends drive it. I'm just as protective of this car as I am my Rx-8!

Great little truck, has let me down only once (aftermarket fuel pump gave out), is an Xtra Cab since I'm tall, has never gotten stuck, has been upgraded with SR5 parts, and has the indestructible 22R 4 cylinder along with the G52 5 speed manual transmission with over 245,000 miles.

I absolutely loved this truck. It ran great and was a very smooth ride. I still have it on the side of my house, but I can't drive it anymore. I hit a patch of ice in the big storm of '06-'07 and slid off the rode into a couple trees.
