I bought this car from a member of the German Sierra owners club. I bought it from my first-owned money after I finished my automotive-engineering studies. The car is extremely fun to drive. The acceleration is outstanding, due to the low kerb weight of the car, and the torquey 2.8 V6 engine. It delivers 160 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. The build quality is generally OK. There are some small squeeks as is to be expected from a car this age. The dashtop is prone to cracking, my car is no exempt. The appearance today still is controversial. Either you like it, or you don't. Like back in 1982 when the model was launched. I think it still is a beauty to see, it still doesn't look outdated. Cost of ownership is OK; the specific XR4i parts are harder to source nowadays, but as long as you're a member of an Owners Club, you wouldn't find it hard to get around the parts you need. The fuel economy is bad. It will do 14 liters/100 km. In return you'll get the blistering acceleration, the envious looks from people and the intoxicating howl of the V6.

Blue, 5-door version. Originally 1.6 litre engine, modified to 2.0 by previous owner in a one of its engine overhauls. Carburator replaced to a racing model, which caused 12litres/100km fuel consumption. Because of that and orginal 4-speed gearbox & rear differential of 1.6 model, it had awesome acceleration. Top speed was only about 190kph tough. Amazing thing was even high when RPMs were god knows how high (didn't have gauge), loudest noise wasn't the reving engine, but the suction noise of the carburator. Carburator gave neat "turbo delay" effect too even in highest gear, ½ second after u floored it before your back violently hit the seat. =D
