The introduction of the Civic FE (fuel economy) model thrilled some who wanted more than the standard 40 mpg that most Civics delivered. It was the same basic '82 Civic but the 1.5 liter engine no pumped out 67 hp and offered 41 mpg. You can still see these old Civics on the road — and usually their drivers are smiling — as well they should given the car's consistent reliability and driving economy. Honda has certainly received a loyal following.

I'm the original owner of a 1982 Honda Civic FE hatchback, and I can't imagine ever selling it. It's 30 years old this year, and I'm giving it an extra nice paint job as a birthday present. People bragging about their hybrid's 50+ mpg just make me laugh. I was doing that 30 years ago, and I can't believe they think it's a new thing. ;>)

Mine was a red Sport with 75 hp. Worked like a charm till my ex killed the engine. "What? I have to fill oil sometimes?" she said after the engine broke.

it's a year older than me, but i love it. good gas mileage, gets going pretty fast, and super easy to drive(besides the lack of power steering haha). good visibility and really easy to park.
