I was 20 years old on January 29, 1976, when I bought Car, a brand new red Celica GT for $5,400, including tax. I'm now 53 and in the ensuing 33 years have moved 14 times, had 9 jobs, owned 4 Volvos, lived with 3 meaningful men and had 1 baby girl who came home from UCSF in Car 17 years ago. Three of my houses burned, almost all of my employers went out of business, 2 men left and my husband died January 29, 2005, on Cars' 29th birthday. My daughter, my red 2006 Volvo T5 and Car are all that is left and are still going strong. They say you don't plant a chestnut tree for yourself, but for your grandchildren. I think I bought Car for mine.
