The Karmann Ghia, introduced in 1957, was the touring coupé version of the Beetle. For the most part the K-G shares its running gear with the Beetle, and is thus loved by many of the same people. Manual front disc/rear drum brakes stop the Ghia just fine, but, really - you can't get the thing much past 65 anyway. A 1500 cc four-cylinder boxer motor provides power from behind the rear wheels. The four-speed manual transmission is VW standard. More important than performance, however, is the character of the Ghia. Front seaters will find their feet crammed together in the footwells, and rear seat users will find their feet burned off by the heaters; that is, if they can fit their legs behind the front seats without cutting off circulation. At least they don't have to worry about their behinds being torched - the Ghia's battery was moved to the engine compartment while the Beetle's was left alone. You can't own a VW without naming it. If you can't think of a name, just wait. Once it knows it's got a good home, your VW will tell you its name.

Performance - braking, handling - they're mediocore but buyer have to consider that the car isn't for fast driving or racing - it's sunday afternoon riding car Build Quality - occasional repairs on engine but nothing too expensive... owner could fix 95% of them without costs going over 100$ Appearance - that's one of the main reasons to buy this car - IT JUST LOOKS AMAZING Cost of Ownership - gas mileage is pretty poor, but costs of repair are pretty low Fun Factor - FUN FUN FUN
