Reviewed a 1956 Porsche 356 on Dec 29, 2013

It's an old car that keeps up with modern traffic, no problem. Amazingly modern feel compared to any of it's contemporaries - will cruise a 75 with ease, tracks straight and brakes better than you would ever expect. It's got the finned aluminum drums. Driving a 356 in modern traffic is a bit scary with it's 1950's safety features - ie. none. So, I drive it like a motorcycle, stay as far away from SUV's as possible and added 4-point shoulder harness and an LED brake light. I have the original engine stored out of the car and had a big bore 912 motor built for it. Thats good for about 100 HP I guess. Compared to the original 60, it's a big improvement. It's just so much fun to drive. Original interior is in great shape - hard to believe, but being only the 3rd owner and with only 77,000 miles after 57 years it's not too surprising... I love the big V-sunroof from the earlier pre-A model (couldn't afford a speedster). It was a "must have" feature that took me 5 years to find in a beehive 356A, so it's pretty rare. The sunroof is original to this car per Porsche COA.
