Write a review
The 2022 BMW X1 makes terrific use of its subcompact SUV footprint. It provides generous room for passengers as well as up to 58.7 cubic feet of cargo space, which is excellent for its class. With the rear seats in use, the X1 still provides a generous 27.1 cubic feet of cargo space. The X1 was first introduced for the 2013 model year. It was replaced in 2016 with a second-generation model, which was refreshed for 2020. Those changes largely carry over to the 2022 model.
Trims for the X1 are sDrive28i and xDrive28i, each denoting the drivetrain. Both are powered by a 228-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but while the sDrive28i routes power to the front wheels, the xDrive28i is all-wheel drive (AWD). Both utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Whether you opt for the sDrive28i or the xDrive28i, standard features include a power liftgate, automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, and eight-way power-adjustable sport front seats. Both versions also come standard with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are a number of packages available, including the M Sport Package, the Convenience Package, and the Premium Package. The M Sport Package adds a number of performance-inspired design elements. The Convenience Package adds an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, hands-free power liftgate, proximity keyless entry, and a panoramic moonroof. Finally, the Premium Package adds all of the content from the Convenience Package, as well as genuine leather, a heated steering wheel, navigation, and a head-up display.
Standard driver assistance features include automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and front-and-rear parking sensors.
The 2022 BMW X1 should cost somewhere north of $35,000 and top out in the $38,000 range. The BMW X1 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile warranty.
